I have a black and white cat named Zoe whom I rescued. She was living at the vet that I used to work for. They were trying to find a home for her when I got hired there. She was only five years old and in perfect health. The lady that owned her just dropped her off one day and wanted her put to sleep. The girl who took the cat in was new and didn't know until after the lady left that the vet perfers to only put animals down if they have a serious problem. So, the technicians begged the vet not to put her to sleep and to let them keep her until they found a home for her. She had been there in a cage for three months when I met her. It was love at first sight. She is now seven and still healthy, and she is the sweetest little girl you could imagine. I think it's pretty amazing how we found each other. It gives me a shudder though, when I think how close to death she was.
I also have a 2 year old hamster named Shelby. He is a light fawn color. He's a cute little thing.
My most recent addition is a grey cockateil named Sydney. I got him as a hand-fed baby at eight weeks old and he is a true joy. He hangs out on my shoulder most of the day, and at only ten months old he can say, Hello, pretty bird, uh oh, it's a yummy and he can do the wolf whistle.
squishy-love your bird. I'm a real bird lover now. Can he say any words? I think that's wonderful that you are rehabilitating a bird.
I am a dog groomer, so I LOVE animals and would have many more if I had the space, time and money. Someday,I hope to have a dog; either a boxer or a siberian husky, a horse, a goat (I have a thing for goats) ducks....................I could go on and on.

That's really cool, I've always thought the more critters the merrier, lol. I may be posting Yago, the rehabilitating bird) sooner than I thought. He just started molting and his new feathers are so shiny and beautiful it makes me want to cry I am so happy. When I got him, I adopted him from being very malnurished (what little food he got was EVIL seed....grrrr) and abused, he was so stressed he plucked all his feathers out. I am soooo happy he is on the road to improvement, he still needs some training, but has turned around 100%. And I cannot even begin to tell you how sweet and talkative he is, really melts me anyhow....I think I am rambling now......

everyone has such cute pets! and a couple zoos. Me? Pet-less. I used to have a Wheaten Terrior.. he looked like Benji.. but his name was Boomer and I got him when i was 11.. He passed away from a fast growing tumor in his eye, last may. I miss him soo much. Now I want cats. But I can't have cats cus this apartment doesn't allow them.

Squishy, you are just the sweetest......you'll be a good Dad (you know, to humans!) someday. I dunno about that, I don't care for kids and don't really want any. But of course all kids love me, lmao. I have a magnet on my fridge that says: Cats Not Kids LOL
