My best friend and I used to have our anti-valentine's day traditions. We were those freaks in high school that wore all black on that day and bitched about commercialism just for the fun of it. We weren't really bitter, we just had a really good time making fun of such a ridiculous holiday.  Since I've been in college, I've celebrated the day by celebrating V-Day instead of Valentine's Day. (For those of you who aren't aware, this means that I was on stage in the Vagina Monologues. If you haven't seen or heard of them, check out the website ( www.vaginamonologues.com) and go see the show -- it's hilarious, informative, and supportive! Tons of celebrities have been in it -- I just performed at my college.) I have never had the story-book valentine's day. Actually, I have never spent a v-day with a boyfriend ever. Either I've been single, or my boyfriend and I have been 3 states away on that day. Yep, we've been together for almost 5 years, live in the SAME town, yet we have never spent Feb14th together!! This year we may actually get the chance to spend the day together. We have no idea what to do with it, and frankly, it doesn't matter to me! |
