off-topic here for a sec: Nattie, is that little photo under your name of you? It's great! It looks a bit like Gillian Anderson to me!
anyway... I'm pretty sure you have to register or enroll or whatever in order to be able to download.....did you do that first?

Nattie. Here are some directions I found. 1. Download the Kazaa installation program to your desktop or other place where you can find it. 2. Click on the icon and install the Kazaa program. 3. During the installation, you will see several question boxes. Click on yes or next. 4. Kazaa will ask you to create a profile and enter some personal information (I used a bogus email on this step to avoid getting advertisements). 5. Once you finish the setup part, Kazaa should launch. 6. Click the search button on the top of the title page to begin your search. 7. Enter the name of the song or artist you wish to search for in the search box near the left side of your screen. 8. Ensure the P2P radio button has a dot in it (it should already be selected by default) 9. Select the audio radio button to search for MP3s, then click "Search Now". The results should appear on the right side of your screen (This may take a few seconds). 10. Click on the song name you want to highlight it 11. To download a song, right click the highlighted song and then select download. 12. Click the Traffic button on top of the screen to see your songs downloading progress. You should see a little meter and then a completed message if it worked. If not, you may need to try another song from the results list or try again later. (sometimes it takes several tries to get a song) 13. Once you download the song, you should be able to find it in your Kazaa "My Shared" folder on your desktop. Just click on the song icon to play it. Hope that Helps a typical 4 minute song is around 4000KB so make sure you get a whole song, some of the files may be incomplete in the results list.

It is under the text box where you enter what you want to look for. It is one of those little circle things you put a dot in with your mouse. I think it tells kazaa to search within the kazaa network to find an mp3 but I am not sure. I wouldn't worry about it since it should already be set when you start the program. You will figure out everything once you play with the program a little. Good luck and tell me if you get it working

Well, there are really two options there, right below the field where you type in the information about the song you want to find.
There's P2P and Web. P2P just means Person2Person (I think), and means that it searches on other people's computers - that is how KaZaA works after all. Web means that it searches online.
The whole point of KaZaA is that there are lots and lots (several million in fact) of people that have registered their computers to it, and they all choose which files they want to share from their hard drive. All the files that they choose to share will be available to everyone else who has KaZaA, and those are the files that you will see when you do the whole search thing.
This also means that you will be asked, during registration, to choose some folders (it can also automatically find some for you) to share, and that people from all over the world will then be able to download those files directly from your hard drive to their own. That's the whole philosophy of P2P programs (aka. file sharing programs), of which KaZaA is the biggest and most widely used one.
