Could you ever let it be......
*Lights lighter in the air*
I've grown to love this song........
"That comes with the morning star, well life lines and suicide crimes....."
Love, Haullie

i know Haullie! i hardly noticed that song at first but now it's become one of my favorites. i love the line, "your walking on the water bit, by far my favorite one. but now it seems we're drowning in a drop of water love." and the "could you ever let it be..."
AAAHHHH... okay, going to listen to it now.

Mrs. Jesus has been my favourite song from Scarlet's Walk for the past few weeks. I just can't get enough of it! [glow=blue,2,300]The gospel changes meaning if you follow John or Paul....[/glow] Amazing song!

Mrs Jesus was the very first song that I downloaded before the cd even came out & I absolutely loved it then & now I love it even more. [glow=red,2,300]Could you ever let it be the Mary of it all?[/glow] hehe! I like the walking on the water line, too. And the "someone's always paging my Mrs. Jesus". Just a great song!!

Tori is so great at tackling issues on religion. Haullie Amen It's the perfect mixture of subtlety and in your face-ness and it's never tacky, like metal songs that say "fuck god" or "screw religion". I didn't like Mrs. Jesus until I heard it live. It's so beautiful..

I know..I hate heavy metal like that. I could never find Tori's songs about religion offensive, because I know she has her own beliefs and she isn't totally against the Christian belief and she's not a satanic whorshiper, so I love her! ;D

this is going to sound funny but from the first time I heard this song i imagined mrs. jesus as tori's mom. the way that she takes off and hitches a ride with mrs. jesus and finds herself thinking "somehow i don't think that it gets any easier". i don't know, it just felt that way-like on one leg of her trip she was alone again and her mom was giving her a ride like moms always do and thats kind of how you think when your moms giving you a ride. and could you ever let it be the mary of it all?

i can't find my scarlet's walk cd.... Oh, sweet (Mrs.) Jesus!! I would be panicking if i couldn't find mine! But i have no way of losing it b/c it hasn't ever left my cd player since I got it! LOL good luck finding it. Say a prayer to St. Anthony....he's the patron Saint of lost things. Even if you don't believe in Saints, it still works!

This is still my least favourite song on SW Mainly because the lyrics just aren't up to the standard of the other tracks IMHO. Scarlet's Walk has her most articulate lyrics for ages, and yet this song doesn't seem to say anything to me other than "hey, I needed to have a vague sideswipe at organised religion in here somewhere". Also the tune is a bit... well... plain. Just a little sweet ditty really. I think the biggest problem is I have no clear idea of who mrs. jesus is supposed to be. For a start it seems that "mrs" jesus is actually a MALE. I have visions of being banned on this thread now

Yep, Mrs. Jesus became one of the favorites after watching Scarlet's Sessions. Thank [Jesus?] -fully, I taped it, 'cause I LOVED the improv before it. After that though, definitely hooked.

Actually this one has been on my mind a lot recently too, when I never thought about it before.
I really love the line "and even as I'm climbing up the stairs I know there's heaven there", that's a really great line, espescially the way she delivers it.

Just Kiddin'.....we would never ban you! But for real....you can't love this song?! Never said can't, just don't! Yet... If there's one thing I've learned, Tori is one of the few artists where I can't judge my long-term reaction to a song in the early stages.

Yes, I can see where you both are coming from. It took a long time before I liked Yes, Anastacia for some reason. I would come to the end of the cd & just end it at that song.....now I love it! Different strokes for different folks, right?!

The first month or so after I got SW I really hated this song. In fact, I would skip over it. (gasp!) But it has grown on me, considerably. I think it's rather clever. But I have found that this always happens with Tori. I think that just proves her music is grittier than a lot of artists you hear once and the melody is catchy. I think the biggest example of this is the whole album of Boys for Pele. I had to really wade through that one. But now it's my fav album. Go figure!

Absolutely, sweetsangria - Boys for Pele is hardly easy to get into, but it's now my no.1 Tori album and my no.2 of all time.
I shall therefore keep persevering! I never understand people who always skip certain songs - how are they ever going to learn to like something if they NEVER hear it?
