This is so cool! Does anyone else have it? It's hooked up thru our cable connection. (and also available thru DirectTV) There are dozens of commercial-free channels of all kinds of music, but the one I listen to the most is called "Progressive Adult Alternative Rock".
Anyway, they play a song & the tv screen shows the picture of that artist/band's album cover, along with the name of the tune, the artist, the year & the name of the album. And on one side of the screen they give an "artist fact", something interesting or noteworthy about the band or the song. For example, Ani Defranco's Angry Anymore was just playing & they showed about 5 little facts about her while the song was playing.....like by the age of 20, Ani had over 100 original songs. And right now Sixpence's There She Goes is on.....
So what i really love about this is that they play such a wide variety of cool songs....and they play truly alternative/folk stuff that you don't hear very often, along with the popular "alternative" singles. They play Tori's ASF at least once a day (that song is on their top 10 list right now! woo), but i've also heard Silent all these Years & Cornflake Girl. And last year they were playing Norah Jones before she was ever on the radio here. Tons of great artists, too....Wallflowers, Patty Griffin, Sarah Mac, Beth Orton, Bob Dillan, Sheryl Crow, Rolling Stones, John Lennon (I heard "jealous guy" earlier today...you don't get songs like that on the radio!), Coldplay, Stone Temple Pilots, Alanis & much more....lots of up&coming artists whose names I can't remember,too! it's so great!!
