sense of balance. this morning (afternoon, i should say) i woke up after having slept 17 hours straight and was totally out of balance. it was not nice.
what is one of your musical pet peeves?

A: a mediocre, repeating guitar riff with senseless screaming. and me, of all people to complain. i listen to an awful lot of music with screaming, but i enjoy it especially when they are actually using words. the line is crossed when they scream just to scream.
Q: same question, only changed up a bit: what are the limitations to your musical interests? what makes you not like a genre?

hmmm.... repetition. you know how Pop music has this crappy formula that goes: verse 1, verse 2 - chorus 1 - verse 3 - chorus 2 - bridge - instrumental with mediocre guitar riff and lots of senseless screaming - chorus 3 with adlibs - chorus 4 with more adlibs - chorus 5 which is uninteligible among so much screaming - fade out. i hate that formula. that completely destroys the chances of saccharine ballads and R&B to move up my list. the likes of Mariah, Celine, Christina, Beyonce... they have no place in my ears.
same question ('twas a good one):

I don't think there's any genre I completely loathe--there can always be one or two artists within a genre I normally wouldn't listen to that grab my interest. But in any genre I'd say my biggest turn-off is performances and performers without any conviction; people who clearly have no passion towards what they are doing. They just sing or play without a clue of actually how to interpret a song. That's where you get people covering sad songs about death with smiles on their faces: people who don't understand what the songs they sing are about. I can't stand that. A good example of the opposite is one Finnish artist who I really like. He does a genre which I generally can't stand: Finnish schlager-type of music. But he's standing so firmly behind his music, so firmly behind his lyrics and puts himself into the game instead of releasing Christmas albums every year with the same droning voice whether the songs are about death or happiness--so I can't help but liking this guy! His name is Ville Leinonen--google and check him out This question was so good that I'll go with a variation of it: Name a genre you hardly ever (or never) listen to and tell us what would make you interested in this genre?

Rap music lol Nothing can change that except maybe a little more melody than usual. There are only one or two rap songs I can really enjoy. One of them is pretty mesmerizing thanks to lyrics that touch me a lot about suicide.
If you could live in a movie, what movie would you choose? why?

Ben Folds. I'd heard some songs before, but the other day a friend gave me "Rockin' the suburbs" and I LUFF it. Thing is, the albums are pretty hard to get in Germany, most of them are imports.
What was the first song you consciously remember listening to?

What was the first song you consciously remember listening to?Today, after lunch, I remember the Chilli's 'Scar Tissue' being played live on my fave radio station. What was the last song stuck in (or just occupying) your head?

I'm close to bed time so the clothing is as follows:
-pajama pants (beige, white and brown "tartan" pattern) -t-shirt that says "A Celebration of Childhood and Bilingual Literacy", featuring a drawn girl jumping extatically over books.
Do you have any daily "rituals" without which your day won't seem complete? (besides eating and such)

Yes, checking my email, livejournal and usually here. I do it everyday, it must be done. It's the way I communicate with probably 3/4 of my friends.
Do you play an instrument? If so, how long have you been playing and what do you play? If not, what do you wish you could play?

I discovered Tori on a plane, 11 years ago. I was listening to the 'in-flight' radio, and though it was still a bit static-y, I managed to hear her say, "God sometimes you just don't come through..." and I kinda went, 'woah! what was that?!' and became hooked ever since What is one of your main goals or focuses for 2006? I don't necessarily mean a resolution.

ha, what do you think? Aerial. and this was an unusual year for me, musically. it sucked for the first 11 months and then November made up for it with new releases by Kate, Enya, Madonna and Sheryl Crow (well Sheryl's came out waaaaaay before, but i only got it in November). Kate tops my list followed by Sheryl and Enya. Madonna's album is also pretty damn good.
what's the weirdest song you ever heard?
