so, this is a thread about the films we've recently seen. i just got home from the new almodóvar, "volver". it's a wonderful film. almodóvar is a genious. what he does with colours, angles, shadows is amazing. and penélope cruz is especially beautiful. i'd highly recommend it if it's showing in a theatre near you.

Aww, I haven't still seen Pirates 2! I love Johnny Depp...
Anyway, I watched today finally Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust movie. I've had it on my comp for ages. Maybe even a year... And I haven't watched it until today. It was nice and D was cool. ^^ Besides that I haven't watched any movies lately... Only half of Brokeback Mountain.

Ummm Pirates of the Caribbean 2, decent movie. Not as good as the first, they completely under-utilized Johnny Depp this time, for some reason. But still pretty good.

I feel weird about the Pirates movies, because I kind of feel like I don't enjoy them as much as I should, and generally only get entertainment out of the funny parts. (I just laughed picturing Jack running along the sand... omg)
Jason, I'm sure they'll do Jack more justice in the next one?

The most recent movie I've seen was Syriana. I watched it on Sunday. Very good... frightening, but good.

I still haven't seen the new Pirates movie, which is surprising because I'm such a Johnny Depp fan that I've watched Secret Window more than once. The most recent movie I've seen in the cinema was Superman Returns. Not excellent, but pretty good. The effects a good on the big screen, and I enjoyed Kevin Spacey's Lex Luther.

i rarely get out to the movies! but i did see the devil wear's prada not long ago. i never read it but it was a girl's night out thing. it was cute with an overall good message. mostly, it was just funny and appalling to watch what shallow bitches these women could be! i'm not at all into fashion (my standard wear is a heavy rotation of my $4 v-neck t-shirts from kohls with little to no accessories and flip flops) but i enjoyed it anyway...
(haha.. sidenote: it reminded me of actually being inside of a prada store in venice with some friends who were all gushing over the shoes and i started asking, quite loudly, things like "why on earth would someone pay this ridiculous amount for these shoes??? just for the name? they're not even cute!" and my friends all got pissed and uppity, telling me to be quiet! so i said "oh, what are they going to do? throw me out because i don't like their stuff?" haha... it was funny)
so i guess the anne hathaway character kind of reminded me of me in a way...
damn... i'm SUCH a rambler today!!!!!! sorry!!!!!

Memoirs Of A Geisha I'm so glad I read the book. (WHAT did they do to Nobu? ack....) I saw that with my mom and sister, who both read the book. I loved the cinematography and I was glad that I saw it on the big screen, but my mom and sister are urging me to read the book for original story/characters.

well, it's been ages since I've been to the movies... can't even say what I saw the last time... but we watched Lord of War yesterday on DVD. I think it was pretty good and "informative" with all the depressing "facts"... but at least the first 30 minutes it bothered me how one's life was just run through and clipped to small sneaks into how one begins a career as a arms dealer, especially it bothered me that it all seemed too easy, one day he just started trafficking arms, just like that. Anyone else seen this? What did you think?

I loved the cinematography and I was glad that I saw it on the big screen, but my mom and sister are urging me to read the book for original story/characters. In general I thought the movie was good, because I know things have to be rushed to get the whole story in, but there were little bits here and there (like Nobu! hah) that dissapointed me. The character I liked best in the book-to-movie transition was Hatsumomo - she came across almost as evil as in the book, which was fun to watch.

I finally saw the FIRST Pirates movie last week. It was great fun. Can't actually remember what the last thing was that I saw on the big screen. I hardly ever go these days.

Still haven't been to see anything on the big screen since my last post.
Saw "Flight of the Pheonix" on HBO last night -- not bad, but a very predictable Hollywood cliche flick.

I watched Memoirs of a Geisha yesterday. It was good. I've read the book before and I loved it a lot and I was so eager to watch the movie. It was visually so great, so beautiful!!! I think it turned well from book to movie.
