I know you have a lot going on right now, but I hope you manage to take a little time today to enjoy yourself and celebrate. You are, without a doubt, one of the coolest people I've met online, and one of the smartest, too. You inspire me in a lot of ways. Happy Birthday, dear!

I had a hunch that there would be a birthday thread here, so I popped in. A good time for an update in general. Thanks guys for the birthday wishes! Sabsy, I blush... Thank you. Aimee, pho was dreamed of but not had, and a friend of mine actually made me cupcakes! Ben, thanks! *rolls in the infinite hugs, all fuzzy* Awesome! Mana, thanks, I did have a good time! I had a pre-birthday party already a week ago, and we went to have a picnic at a beach. It was really great, especially as the weather here has been ridiculously hot and sunny. This Friday, on the actual birthday, me and some friends went out. Because we are all teachers who are used to waking up early and being totally pooped by the end of the day, it was already an accomplishment that we didn't fall asleep at someone's place before the party, but actually went out! I decided to have one drink only (due to being scared of falling asleep there--man we're lame) so I decided to compensate that with the stiffness of the drink. A Long Island Ice tea that was ridiculously yummy. Apparently our table had a bunch of fun because the bartender came and gave us free tickets to the night club that belongs to the same chain as this coffee place/bar we went to! Now we are plucking up the courage to use those tickets this week--it's a real dance hell, but we'll see Anyways, sorry I have not been around. As some of you already know, I have been very busy and sporadically at the computer for various reasons. Also, last spring my computer busted so I basically could just get online from work and thus updated only my Livejournal account to keep as many people posted as possible. I will not be very active here in the future, either, and of this I have informed the other mods already. I am looking forward to moving to the US in the very, very near future, and that requires a lot of paperwork etc. I will come and post updates here. In order to be able to actually leave for US, I need to finally graduate, which means finishing my thesis. Luckily, I have written 65 pages of the required 70 or so, so it's really just in the last stages. Still, I am working at the same time (have been teaching this August at an intensive language course), so working on the thesis has been in the second place in priority. So now I have to work less during September and focus more on that writing... Yikes. Nice to graduate, not nice not to have much income... But that's how it goes. Ok, before this turns into another journal entry, I'll just say again: Thank you for the birthday wishes, and I'll see you around! I'll try to come here still as often as possible, but I fear that I will be mostly reading and not posting. Browsing places does not do good for my academic ermmmmm advancement
