"Is your place in heaven worth giving up these kisses...these kisses." This song reminds me of a loved one who's passed away. The narrator is sad that, that loved one has left them here to go to heaven. I always think of my grand-father who I was very close to. I lost him when I was 9 yrs old. He had a heart attack, so I thought. Three years later I over heard family members saying how he killed himself. It was like loosing him all over again. So when I heard this song, particularly that line I think of him. I want to ask him the same question. Was it worth it, leaving everything else behind? Like his loved ones.

I've always thought of it being directly tied to her strict Christian upbringing, where the question would be more "Are these arbitrary rules, these traditions, this stringency, is all of this worth giving up so much of your possible experiences in life?" A literal example would be asking some boy if his place in heaven is worth leaving those kisses behind because their version of Christianity says you should wait, which is where I got that from, but it could apply to any earthly experience that defies strict puritan morality. Your interpretation is much more beautiful than mine, though

I believe in some sort of God, I just don't know who or what. I know when Tori is referring to something biblical, I just don't know what it means because I have not read the whole Bible. I wish I could finish it, but I just don't understand enough of it to get into it. I am a huge Shakespeare fan though, and understand him. Go figure. I hope that didn't offend anyone. The artist's meaning is important to understand, but also the listener should find their own relation the song.
