yeah, my list is going to be a lot different from all of yours... hehe... and it's so hard for me to distinguish between all time favorites and current favorites... so this'll have more of a "current" feel to it, i guess.
~Sixpence None the Richer ~16 Horsepower ~Wilco ~Stavesacre ~The Violet Burning ~Zao ~bjork ~The Blamed ~Operatica (on the strengh of one cd, actually) ~Sam Phillips/ T Bone Burnett (wife/husband)
peace.

Well, besides the #1 spot this is sooo hard! I agree w/the theory....that it's difficult to distinguish current from all time... here's mine (at least for now!) *Tori Amos (#1) in whatever/random order: * Dave Matthews band * Aimee Mann * U2 * Sting * Fiona Apple * The Beatles * Nirvana * Sarah McLachlan * Pearl Jam but here are others that I had to struggle with to leave off the above list: Alanis, Paul Simon, Bush, Coldplay, the Rolling Stones, Joe Jackson, Neil Young, Van Morrison, Pink Floyd, Natalie Merchant.... I could go on & on! And we do have similar tastes.....I also love Wilco & The Cranberries & many others mentioned here.

I actually have a top 10 albums. I made a rule that each artist could only have one entry, mainly to prevent Tori from dominating with at least three entries!
Mind you, some of these peope might have produced one great album and that's it.
1. The Soul Cages - Sting 2. Boys for Pele - Tori Amos 3. The Rainy Season - Marc Cohn 4. The Seeds of Love - Tears for Fears 5. House of Hope - Toni Childs 6. Ghosts - Wendy Matthews 7. Picture Book - Simply Red 8. So - Peter Gabriel 9. Mercy - Bryan Duncan 10. Together Alone - Crowded House
In fact I worked out a whole top 40, but I've bought quite a few things since the last edit (c. two years ago!) that would cause a major revision.
Some of my favourite people haven't quite made this top 10 list. For example I love Seal's songwriting but no one album has all the right ingredients.
If you want the version with multiple Tori items, put Choirgirl Hotel at number 3, Little Earthquakes after "Ghosts" and bump down other artists accordingly!

Oh Lord, we have GOT to stop doing this bumblebee! Mind you, that wasn't all that surprising - it's the kind of album likely to appeal to people who also like Tori Amos. The mere fact that it has a fairly solid storyline behind it is a major plus. That, and it's basically all about water and/or death!

Okiedoke... granted over the last two to three years my exposure to music shot up so much that it's unbearable... and the fact that most of my other music is NOTHING like tori... here you go.
1. Tori -Nick Cave -Voltaire -VNV Nation -Covenant -Funker Vogt -Front242 -Guns 'N Roses -Control.org -NCC
There... and I'll bet you've probably heard of less than half. Or thereabouts.

ok, I'm getting the Industrial thing now! Yes, yes....much of the bands were listed as Techno/Dance with "industrial" as the sub-genre. Very interesting!! And Front242 has some album artwork that is both beautiful & scary! LOL
