I have to agree with the majority on this one. She sounds like a country singer to me...She has a serious twang to her voice, If the Dixie Chicks did a cover of Complicated I think it would sound better than her own  |

I hate Complicated can't stand the damn song, but as much as I agree with Haullie on the whole fake part she actually has some good songs. I was staying at my brother's the other night and he was playin' her album, I thought that was a good way to get me out of there, cuz he plays Mariah Carey when he wants me to leave , anyways after a while I realized that her image goes way behond her music. She thinks she's this badass chic but she's not, and her music doesn't suck as much as I thought.  |

Her voice I would absolutely die for, her voice is great. God bless the fucking parents that created this shining star.
but hold on kids, thats not all!
It's an image! The image is what I disapprove with. I do not and never will believe that an artist needs to create a fake image to get anywhere. If she would have taken her voice to the top being just herself I wouldn't have had such a big deal with it. I have listened to this girls entire album on Kazaa (God forgive me I can't make a judgment call without testing the waters) and her voice is so good but she's making the young people focus more on the "Bad girl image" she has kiddie tatooed on to her outter layer.
I have read a few articles on this girl, for the most part all she wants to do is be herself and listen to her talk, it's not all bad girl, there is a real musician in there somewhere. But see I get the feeling she is feeding off of this and when it comes back to bite her in the ass I'm not going to have any sympathy for her. Why? Because she didn't fight back and set an example for other young girls who may (God help them) look up to her.
It's the same with Christina Agulairuodhishd (Fuck that spelling) The poor girl grew up in the worst possible enviornment, abuse, chaos what have you and in her songs you can hear that pain. But she feels her only way out of life is to cover it up with sex appeal and pretend like she's really all comfortable with her life when we all know she's playing on young boys because she never had the same attention at home. It's actually a pretty sad story. I really have heart filled feelings for this girl. I see her confused and pushed into society like a rocket in space and she's so frail emotionally sometimes that it's hard for her not to pretend her past doesn't exsist.
But I believe as individuals and musicians we need to set better examples. Don't go brainwashing every young talent you see just because you saw a million dollar vision above their heads. That million dollar vision appears in everyone whether you're fat, small, beautiful, ugly, have sex appeal, have none, gay, strait, dog cat and the occasional little person. Music is music, fuck the image! Thats never the reason I buy someone's CD.

I don't understand the hype either. However, I noticed how angry everyone is at this "little girl". She's just having a good time making music. It may not be my type of music, but hey who cares. I hope she enjoys herself, more power to her.
Also, I don't know if her image is fake. It might be. I'm guessing no one on this board has met her though. I just felt like I needed to post because I couldn't understand why you guys are so angry.
Come on, there are much better ways to spend your time than complaining about someone's image who you don't even know.

StephMo you have a good point and we respect your opinions but believe me we have reason to be concerned for the image that will be burned into future children's minds. It's not that we are "angry" at her, we are more upset in a whole at the unreal image that the music industry splatters on to these young brilliant talents. And at the fact that she Avril plays along with it. How do we know this without meeting her? read some of the young lady's articles some time or listen to her speak, she lies and then covers up lies to look good. It's been documented. I'm only sorry I didn't hold on to the long article on vril and the so called "Bad girl" image page on her attempt to gain fame and stardom through her so called Skater look to get the money of young ones everywhere.Hope this helps you better understand why we spend our time worrying as you say.

i think that micel is right. i think that she is just young. i don't particularly love her music but at least it's not the same britney crap they've been playing. i read an interview with her in rolling stone and she just sound like a 17 year old girl who likes to party and make music. i was a lot like that when was 17, granted i'm not a whole lot older than that now (21) but i still don't think she's particularly fake. i do see where that perception would come from though. oh and her new single is actually pretty good  |

I have to agree ,she sucks ! I know a few people who like her music and try to say she Writes her own music as a defense. I don't care if she wrote those songs or not they are still crap. I'm so tired of all these female "musicians" like Shakira or Pink who claim to be better than Brittney or Christina just because they write their own songs. It doesn't change the fact that the songs are garbage! true musicians like Tori aren't even in the same catagory but because of them she gets mushed up with these fakes. It's sickening!

I'm sorry, but I just love Avril, she has a great voice and I think she's the best teen act out there! I love Loosing Control and Im With You, she has some other really good songs too. I just don't like Skater Boy, I think that song sucks. But her CD is really good, you should just give her a try like I did!
