there has proly been a thread on this before, but I don't care...
If you have not seen the music video for this song yet, you must. The most tear-wrenching thing I've seen. Spectacular. It's the sort of thing I think Tori Amos fans might appriciate.
find it on the internet somewhere... or TV... or better yet get a copy of the cd (a DVD comes with later printings of the cd)
peace.

Oh my god. I heard that song last week, and I think it is just amazing. I love it. I couldn't believe Johnny Cash would cover that song, to tell you the truth I thought he was dead. I am so glad he came out with that song though, and that music video is so emoitional, I love it.

I'd heard about it ages ago and totally forgotten till you posted about this. Thank you for the link to that video, it was nice to be able to see the vid as well as hear the actual song!
I only thought it was OKish... can't say I liked it all that much anyway. It's one of my fave NIN songs, so I can't help finding it less than great. But as far as cover versions go, it wasn't bad - Cash brings his own vibe to it nicely and that's the main thing.

Awe poo...I'm the only one that doesn't like it! I'm sorry..but the only old man that should be singing "Hurt" should be Trent when he's an old man. It's one of the best songs ever...but the way Johnny Cash sings it, I think it changes the meaning entirely. But that's just my opinion. Rock on to those (like my brother) who found it "refreshing".

Awe poo...I'm the only one that doesn't like it! Aww don't stress - I didn't particularly like it either - I said it was "just OKish". I think the fact that Cash's version changes the meaning somewhat is good though - I think a sucessful cover (whether I find it good or not) is when the artist brings their own new feel to the song rather than just trying to duplicate the entire thing. (Lol but I wonder what Trent will look like when he's really old? I think he'll just go grey... not bald or anything - seems to have a pretty good head of hair!)

I wish to see the vid, but no music channel shows it. Also I haven´t listened to Cash´s version yet.
What does the vid show?
And surely I believe in a beautiful old Trent!!

Finally I have seen the video and taped it. It´s amazing. I think it´s a very good cover. I love how he has changed the meaning of the song!
