I have a friend... who met Nick Cave... Ugh. I am so envious.. but there's actually even a really funny story about it. She has it on her site... and since it's just humorous enough.. I'll paste it here for you, lol.
Nick Cave & the Bad Moment
On Friday, I went to a taping of Late Night with Conan O'brien. Me, I don't watch late night talk shows much, but I kind of dig Conan from what I've seen. The real reason I wanted to go, however, was that the musical guest was none other than:
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. Oh, yes. I was upset that I wasn't making it to any of the shows he had scheduled in New York because the tickets were a little expensive and none of my friends wanted to go with me. I was naturally in a state of bliss when Kris informed me her sister happened to have tickets for the Conan show and would I like to go and all. Hee.
So. Friday. Got to the studio around 4ish. There was a line snaked across the entire mezzanine, and I was almost certain we weren't going to get in. Cue a pleasant surprise. We got in.
Right. Thus begins the process of ticket checking, rule repeating, and so forth. We had to go through a metal detector. This is always a problem area with me. After about 5 times of ambling through and beeping, I realized my studded belt was the culprit. I was asked to remove it. Me, I'm not too fond of taking any article of clothing off in public, especially one that is holding up my pants. But I did. And finally got through, hobbling along with my right hand assuring my pants stayed on and my left clutching the thousands of other objects I had to take out of my bag. Hardly graceful.
So we're waiting for the elevator, cursing up a storm in my annoyance, all of my shit is lying on the floor while I'm attempting to get my belt back on, and ...
Nick Cave walks out of the other elevator. Excellent fucking timing, Nick! Really!
I naturally had to stop what I was doing and proceed to stare with mouth agape. He stared back, because that's what you do when someone is staring at you. After a few seconds, things were beginning to get uncomfortable, so I tried to think of something staggeringly brilliant to say that would make him go "You are the coolest person ever and I'm going to take you on tour with me and we will be best friends forever and ever."
I said "Hi."
Look, I was pressed for time, alright?
He says back, with a puzzled look, "Hello. Do I know you?"
Yes! Yes you know me! It is written in the stars that we are supposed to hang out and drink whiskey and be pals! Because you own, and I own, and there's really nothing else that matters, right? RIGHT!
"No ... "
"Well. I think I should."
What?! Here's your chance! Come on, dazzle him with your wit and charm!
"Er...why's that?"
"Because you seem to be taking off your pants."
......
......
......
His entourage chuckled, he smiled, said "cheers" and walked away.
I proceeded to die. Really. I am writing this posthumously. Kris had to drag my lifeless body into the elevator whilst cackling like a lunatic, and I remained dead.
The rest of the show is hazy, considering I was a corpse and all.
