Nattie,
It saddens me greatly to hear about your recent troubles. Being unemployed really sucks. And you know who helped me through that bad time back in '93 when I was jobless? It was Tori and her music. I would offer that to you but since you already have her in your heart, that probably isn't going to help.
One of the more positive things I did in that time was do volunteer work. My unemployment support group encouraged it, since it had the possibility of building up a network of peer contacts that, just possibly, might've led to a job. In the end, I got work from another direction but it was a very positive thing volunteering for other things. If you like animals, perhaps the Humane Society?
BTW: You might want to join a local unemployment support group (meets weekly, that sort of thing) up in Calgary. It helped to meet others in the same situation. Sometimes, I would go to job fairs with someone else, made me less nervous when approaching the booth with my resume.
So many of the old cliches are running through my head. I won't repeat them here. It makes me feel so helpless knowing you are on the other side of the continent and there is nothing I can really do to help. Just remember we are your friends and if you want to talk about something (public or private), please feel free to do so.
