 I am a huge patty fan, she is my 'tori with a guitar' She has a new album coming out at the end of this month but, I recommend her old stuff as well, check out the song "rain" if you can find it. Hey!  I don't own any of her music, but I do love what I've heard from her... Especially from the last (studio) album. I was positively obsessed with "Making Pies" there for awhile. I need to check out more of her stuff. I really like her style, though. I read that the new album is supposed to feature Lisa Germano and Emmylou Harris?! Wow! |

Ok, I've managed to download "Rain".. and while it sounds like a slightly bad quality file, it's not bad. Not bad at all! Will check out a couple of others later on |

"Top of the world" by the Dixie chicks is a patty song. A lot of people have covered her. I recommend downloading (before buying of course) "Rain" "Mary" and "Made of Clay" (slow pretty songs) and "Tony" is a nice angry one. And visit www.pattygriffin.com of course. |

Well, a lot happens in 9 months. I now own ALL 4 of her albums (don't have the live one) and I just wanted to report that I'm in love with Patty. ;D  I admire very much what she's done with this last album, Impossible Dream. It's beautiful, the whole darn thing. I'm listening to it now. I think it's my favorite because it's the best of her voice and the best of her music, in my opinion (especially the piano parts and the awesome music of 'Standing', which gives me chills). This is quickly becoming one of my top albums, much to the chagrin of my dear hubby who's walked in the door from work every evening this week, heard what's playing, and asked "her? again? who is this again?" then goes on to name every female country singer he can think of (it's a short list, but annoying none the less because she is NOT 'country'; she's just GOOD!.. but he's not that taken with her...) I'm looking forward to more good stuff from her.  |
