*screams in frustration and feels like getting the brick out* And oh well, hopefully one day I'll stumble upon it on the net or something. If I ever find a link for it, I'll pass it on to you Mallory

i just heard the album... i really think it takes some getting used to. especially the songs that feature throat-singing. sounds strange. but i like the one in icelandic. it's official: "vespertine" is still my favourite björk album.

I'm sorry..but i'm not impartial..i adore Bjork(as i adore Tori),and i love this new work(apart form the track "Ancestors"..i didn't really assimilated it..for now )even if it's distant light years from her other albums, but for this i like her, never an album similar to the other

YAY @ thoughts on it from people that have the album so far I don't.. I don't even know when it's released here. Should've been yesterday if it was indeed the 31st but I haven't had a chance to find out yet. Oh well. It will be my weekend's mission.

I stumbled across Medulla in Borders last night (I took the parents to an evening movie, lol) and had a bit of a listen. I'm fascinated! There was a song towards the end with a choir that I loved.
I've always been a huge Debut fan but prolly never got over it enough to appreciate the rest of her work. There were a few songs I liked from Post though too. I couldn't get into Homogenic at all, and then one day Scott sent me a video of Bjork singing 'Unravel'. He dedicated it to us, since we had to spend three weeks apart at that time. It was the most romantic thing anyone's ever done for me. Dammit!
Ok, end ramble! Will prolly end up buying Medulla which is all that counts.

I like Bjork, and it's an interesting concept for an album, but it really does not seem like a CD that would get much use out of me. Mellow stuff is fine, but let's face it, all I listen to these days is metal music aside from Tori and Alanis. No instruments? *sigh* Too artsy, methinks, but I'd like to give it a chance.

Bought it and have listened to it a couple of times... it does sound weird(er than the other albums) and it probably won't end up being my favourite album. Can't name my favourite yet, I mostly like some parts of some songs but then it's ruined by making it too long... hmm, thought the icelandic sound cool though.

I've listened to the album for a few days now...think I bought it last Friday evening off itunes...
As usual with Bjork, there are one or two songs that I find to be beautiful, a couple more to be good, and then the rest to just sound like a cat with a huge hairball. I give her respect for being inventive and pushing boundaries, but the worshipping of that--pushing boundaries, something that so many other musicians do without the attention grabbing techniques, that's what annoys me about Bjork. And then of course there's her voice, which is at times beautiful (like mentioned above), but then at other times I find she should have put her talents into songwriting only and let someone else do the vocals...
I think this album is good, but I don't think it's as good as some of her past ones. The Icelandic is appropriate at the right times and there is a lot of echoey depth to many of the songs, but I don't think I'll be listening to this one a lot.

I took a break from Bjork and listened to the newest Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds album (which rocks, really!) instead... However, yesterday I went back to Medulla and now I have "Who is it" playing in my head in repeat... I love that song!

You show me continents, I see the islands You count the centuries, I blink my eyes
Yeah, I've been listening to five tracks from this album on mp3 thanks to Mallory, and there's only one I'm not completely in love with - and I still like that a decent amount.
I've never been the hugest Björk fan, but this album for some reason really grabs me. When I have the money to spend on CDs, it's number ONE on my to-get list. I just love the purely vocal style, it makes for some incredibly interesting moments - I've posted elsewhere already about how much I'm in love with the "vocal waves" of Oceanía[/b].
This is just simply a really well-done album in my opinion... from what I've heard so far.

by the way, can someone copy and paste the tracklist from somewhere else? i got a copy from a buddy of mine who's a lazy ass and didn't even bother to write what songs are on the freaking record. not that i bothered too much about it, so far.

I can't really read the tracklist on the back of my album anyway... Not without a flashlight.
And Vökuró[/b] makes me want to learn Icelandic.

Nesting spring hid at the hill's root awake as are we faith in life quiet cold spring eye of the depths into the firmament staring still in the night
Far away wakes the great world mad with grim enchantment disquieted fearful of night and day your eyes fearless and serene smile bright at me
My hope your blest smile rouses verse from sleep the earths rests silent in arms of snow lily white closes her blue eyes my little girl
