Pink Floyd are the inventors of space rock, and could possibly be the best known psychadelic rock band in music history. They're one of my favorite bands of all time. Who else could withstand losing their main singer/songwriter (syd barret) and then losing their main lyrics and bassist (roger waters) ? Certainly most bands would have given up, but not Pink Floyd. And that's only one reason why I love them so. Their music is constantly trying to push the limits, and explore different themes lyrically as well as exploring onstage theatrics. Some may say that these theatrics and the various sounds and equipment used overshadowed their music, or even bloated it, but I disagree. To quote Waters, "That's like saying you give a man a Les Claypool and he's Eric Clapton.."

David Gilmour himself may insist that there were better records made at the time that Dark Side of the Moon came out, but I think he's just being modest. I was shocked to find out that Gilmour had very little if no classical training, and has only recently begun to learn how to read music. That's pure talent.

Favorite Albums*: Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Meddle, The Division Bell, Piper At The Gates of Dawn.

Favorite songs*: Echoes part 1., Any Colour You Like, Learning To Fly, Us And Them, Shine On You Crazy Diamond (all parts tee hee)., Money, Bike, Saucerful Of Secrets.

*in no particular order cause that's too hard =P

Back in college Sean wrote a paper on Zionism and somehow tied in/included PF's lyrics for "On The Turning Away".
It was pretty intense, I remember that.

I think *personally* BOWIE invented Space ROck, but otherwise, i LOVE LOVE LOVE PFloyd, I've been listening to them a lot lately, my faves are: Comfortably Numb, When The Tigers Broke Free (not on the album THE WALL, but on the movie), Brain Damage, and more...

Lots of love for Pink Floyd.

"Wish You Were Here" is the only song that I have plucked out on the guitar so far (I recently inhereted two guitars and I want to learn to play them, but I haven't had the time to teach myself yet).
That is definitely one of my favorites.

Other favorites (amongst many more): Breathe, Time, Brain Damage (yes, I could list the entire Dark Side of the Moon tracklist, but I won't...), Cymbaline, Another Brick In The Wall (Part III) , Wish You Were Here...

AHHHHHHH...... I love 'em. When I was child my mother put me to sleep, by playing their music. I plan on doing the same for my "sugar plum faerie". I have actually already started, a few weeks ago I played Dark side of The Moon for my belly! You know what they say about babies in utero.........with sound and all.

By the way I have always said my father looks just like David Gilmore...... My father always grins real big when he hears me say this to someone! I am pretty sure he takes it as a compliment. For I find him to be a pretty handsome person.
