Would you really want your favourite bands/artists to be hugely popular chart-busters that all the teenyboppers obsess over? I'm quite happy that my favourite bands aren't gushed over in the way that the media gushes over the popstars.. it keeps them in that "breath of fresh air" category. Pulp's Jarvis Cocker said: the top is not the place i prefer

When you said Trent's a perfectionist - I actually think that's the only reason it takes so damn long for new NIN releases. The nice thing about it though is that when they finally DO release something, you know it's gonna be fantastic. Also, I feel like Trent doesn't release those extra Fragile songs just because of that pesky lil perfectionsim thing again - because surely he knows what a massive fanbase NIN has. At the end of the day, if the artists that produced the music don't think some of it is good enough for us to hear, then I don't needa hear it. And yeah, I know all about Tapeworm. That was some depressing shit... I can't remember exactly what Trent said about it on nin.com, but basically it'll never see the light of day. That song "Vacant" that APC performed live a couple of times (much to Trent's disgust, I hear) - they're releasing a studio version of that on the Emotive cd that's coming out next month. I look forward to hearing that. Still pretty gutted that a real Tapeworm release will never get out though... that would've been some amazing stuff.

@ Aims. Maynard and Trent are my two fav vocalists (appart from Tori Amos) so you can imagine how shattered I was when I found there was no possible release of tapeworm, I'm also a member of a NIN forum where this same topic was circulating a while ago. Good news though is that the new NIN album is out in march 2005 (unless Trent delays it AGAIN) You've prolly heard of these sites, but if not - For an amusing aspect of NIN check out: www.theninhotline.net/meatpers/meatpers.htmlFor another a side project involving Trent Reznor (he doesn't sing in it much though) is: jakalope.net/

Oh yeah, totally - I don't have to imagine, I understand only too well! But yes, at least we have the new NIN album to look forward to! ;D
LOL yeah I'm a long time Meathead fan! Haven't been to the site for a while though... probably a good thing coz when I used to check back all the time there were no updates for ages.
I hadn't heard about that side project though, will go check it out now. Cheers! ;D

jakalope is a complicated website, if you have trouble with it I can give some hints on how to access certain areas of it. There are lots of puzzles and things, good fun but time consuming if you have 56k.

I think Hope Sandoval (Mazzy Star) and Tori Amos would be great duet partners.
