Do you have the album? Me, Miranda, and Mary have been ranting and raving about it since it came out. What do you think of it?

I don't think you're the really Carly. What did you do with my real Cazlry?! This album is changing my world. LOL Ok, maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration, but damn, I'm loving it. The whole darn thing is exciting and fun and intense and just GOOD! My current obsession song is Take, Take, Take. Although My Doorbell and Forever For Her are still high for me, too. And The Denial Twist is just awesome. I love how it begins, especially.

I'm so hyped about this album I can't type correctly! Take, Take, Take is my #2 song!

thank you Carly Well, I listened to this album and it wasn't what I expected. They gave up electric guitars for the most part and the power it gave their music is gone for me. So yeah, there are good melodies, but I miss the electric guitars a lot. Only 3 songs have some electric sounds all along. In my eyes, only one song was worthwhile, it's Instinct Blues. My tastes are too rock for that album. But I'm glad you three enjoy it a lot ;D

I didn't even notice the lack of guitars... I love that it's different from their other albums because it shows they can evolve and do new things and still be millions of times better than most bands today.

Well, it's not difficult to be better than today's bands... I respect their work on this album but it's not what I enjoy in music.

Well, it's not difficult to be better than today's bands... I respect their work on this album but it's not what I enjoy in music. I can totally understand what you mean by that. Because the reason I'm finally REALLY paying attention to the White Stripes is because I DO enjoy in music the kinds of things I'm hearing on THIS album of theirs. Finally. I mean, I liked a few of their other catchy songs but overall I never really held any one album in high regard. This album is different. For some, I can see how 'different' means 'not what I'm looking for'. For me, the 'different' is was something that grabbed me and practically looked for me! I'm happily addicted to GBMS. Listening to it makes me wonder what else they might have recorded at the same time at Jack's house during the recording days. I want more! Every song has its own unique character and I like how they all piece together to build an album that's got all the flavors I love in music. Sean is also taking a more serious liking to this album. Today we were listening to it in the car and if you'd passed us on the freeway I'm sure you would have laughed at us, dancing in our seats and tapping on the steering wheel. It's just very pleasing to us. It's so good, it's almost sinful. Ok, so does everyone get that I really like this album?

Every new album makes us think in a different way about their previous work. And I think the different approach in sounds and melodies in this album can be hinted at (only in retrospect) with previous albums. And in the end, it may make you appreciate more and/or differently their previous albums in the light of this one.
