What Tori song is getting you through these days? Is there a specific lyric or concept that is helping ease any stress you might be under?
For me the lyric, "I guess on days like these you know who your friends are" from Taxi Ride is really sticking out to me. I'm having some troubles with the upstairs neighbours right now, who I was sure were my friends, and this song seems to say, it'll be okay, we'll get through this together...

Well, this was on a different board for a long time and no one saw it there, so I thought I'd post it in the lounge. Any thoughts? xo

Sugar, but I don't want to go into why it strikes a chord with me these days.

After many years of hiding, Take To the Sky is with me again. Moreso the WTSF version.... it just screams at me to DO SOMETHING with my situation...telling my lazy self to have a seat I suppose.
GREAT thread idea Nattie.

^ Hugs, Josh. I've been listening to To Venus and Back. If you knew what I'm going through, you'd understand. Sadly there's only three people who know what's really going on and I'm sure this album will get me through this. xo

Most recently, it was actually Silent All These Years, which was the first Tori song I fell in love with. Funny, that.

Hmm, I'm also into Silent All These Years... it might have something to do with flashbacks and remembering what happened to me when I was three. it might also have something to do with the fact that the piano and me have been spending a lot of time together jsut so I can get through this...who knows. xo

For some reason Father Lucifer, and Crucify the WTSF version. I don't know why though. Sometimes I just get in a mood you know, where I don't know exactly what it is I'm feeling, or why I'm feeling the way I feel. WTSF is my favorite version of Take 2 The Sky. Does anyone know where I can find this version on an album?

In reading this thread, rather than thinking about how some of Tori's lyrics can help get us through current situations, I instead find myself thinking about how Tori regards them now.
To explain, if the songs act in some way as a diary which will remind her of people and events that have occupied her life at certain times, then surely it must be hard to sing about many of those things in concert a number of years down the line? I guess that's a big drawback for any artist who puts out so-called "confessional" type material. So, for example, how does Tori feel about singing a song which expresses her pain at splitting up with Eric Rosse when she would have put that behind her a decade ago and she's now happily married to Mark and has Tash too? And there's many other examples, including those dealing with her relationship with her father, the rape, the miscarriage, etc - when we have a traumatic part of our life, we try to leave it behind and move on, but Tori will be dredging up stuff from her past for us to enjoy at her performances.
I know that this is Tori's chosen path and these songs help us when we have similar things to deal with in our lives (as well as being great songs in their own right, of course!) but it must be horrendous never being allowed to leave it all behind.
What do others think?

Lately, it's been "Take Me With You" I'm not sure why, it's just so good probably that it's helping me through this phase.

"almost rosey" has been doing it for me lately. i just keep having days where the lines "why do they say 'have a nice day' anyway? we both know they wouldn't mind if i just curled up and died" and "when is enough enough?" are just exactly how i'm feeling. so i blast them in my car and sing really loud and then repeat. it's a great remedy...

IIEEE is my staple. Its not so much the lyrics that get to me except for the chorus, but the music brings me to the darker spot and brings me out towards the end. It's like that meditation exercise with progressive relaxation....you have to squeeze your muscle groups and then let it go to feel that relief.

For me it's been Northern Lad - the line in particular, "Girls you've got to know when it's time to turn the page".
