Tho im sure we all want this album to be different from all the others. What album would you like to bee reminded of when you finally get the annoying shrinkwrap of the wonderful new Tori cd?

Hmm...interesting! from the choirgirl hotel for me, not because of the "sound", however, but because of how it made me feel when I first listened to it; as if I had suddenly stumbled upon a delicious secret that I wanted to keep all for myself. That one really speaks volumes to and from my soul every time I listen to it, and I'm hoping to be as passionate about the new one as FTCGH!

sweet kier!....I am hoping to relate to this one as I do little earthquakes, while its not my favorite album as you said it speaks to me in a certain way and it makes me feel very close to the person she was when she wrote it. I'll be happy as long as it is nothing like SW. I dont know if I can hang after another album like that.

Ooh, I liked pondering over this! My first thought: In the same vein as Kier's explanation, I'd have to say To Venus And Back. I was intrigued by the song names as I soon as they were revealed, and the sounds I heard on the first listen made me seriously dance on the inside. I loved every song on it, except for Bliss and Oceans and I remember my anticipation of Concertina every time. It was (is) in the perfect position for me -not too early and not too late. I have to say though, that I could almost taste my anticipation for Scarlet's Walk. I was in Japan at the time and waited FOREVER to get that special delivery from Amazon. That was the only delivery from Amazon that took so bloody long, ha! The hype surrounding the album also contributed. I think the Limited Edition just about finished me off!! Sound-wise I would love to be reminded of lots of early b-sides! Sister Janet and Honey in particular. And, since Tori is introducing another instrument - the hammond, I'd like to be taken back to when I first listened to Boys For Pele. I was very close to throwing the CD on the floor when I heard the harpsichord! No jokes... I had come from hearing LE, UTP and all the b-sides up until then, and I was just shocked when I heard the harpsichord. I felt like she'd been unfaithful or something -it was quite weird! But, I'd never heard anyone play the piano like that before and I just wanted more..... The happy news is I fell in love with the album soon after I'm not saying I want to throw down The Beekeeper, I'd just like to think I've grown with Tori on this one, and take it in slowly and gently. Not put my heart on my sleeve like I did with Pele, and embrace the new 'organ' LOL. Good heavens! What a ramble! But thankyou bb!
: either a car alarm or house alarm-grr!

Going on my cycle theory it should be reminiscent of Under the Pink and To Venus and Back in that the songs will be less connected. Problem with that is, the song titles are already suggesting a more thematically-based album. Maybe if I count Tales of a Librarian in there then it's time for another 'difficult' thematic album more like Boys for Pele or Strange Little Girls.
New instruments (hammond organ especially) would also fit that - Pele introduced the harpsichord, and SLG made the rhodes and wurlitzer prominent. There might be more 'empty spaces' in the music than there were in Scarlet's Walk.
To be honest I hope it's a little bit shorter than Scarlet's Walk. 55-60 minutes would suit me just fine.

I'm hoping for perhaps Choirgirl with a blend of Under The Pink. And you thought I was going to say Boys For Pele, didn't you?

well, it is my favorite... but in reality i don't want this to sound like any other album before. she's always been very diverse about her music whilst being able to keep her records connected to each other. and that's the way it oughta be. i just hope there'll be a wee bit more edge this time. she hasn't had much of that since 'Choirgirl' indeed. it isn't mendatory, but it'd be nice. some wicked piano solos are in order.

Hahah this beehive background is making me giddy! Anyways!
I'd like it to remind me of Choirgirl. I think that's the album that made the biggest impact on me, and although I absolutely loved Scarlet, I'm now in the mood for good old gutsy and raw Tori.

I would have to say Choirgirl or Pele. While I'm not sure that they are my favorites (I'm not sure I could ever figure that out) I instantly loved every song on both of those the very first time, and I never (or rarely) skip a song when I listen to either one.

Oh, you all love Choirgirl!! Well, so do I. ;D I really wanted to remind me of Choirgirl, but no. So, the reason I'm replyin to this old thread (placed in page number 5) is because I really wanted to know which album reminds you of, now that you all have listened to it. I would have to say Scarlet's. Mainly cos it has nothing to do with Choirgirl, or Little Earthquakes? Hmmm... Or maybe it does, maybe it does. Also it has something from BFP and UTP. Nothing SLG, of course. But some songs off LE, BFP and UTP could be part of. But I'm not to be paid attention, since I keep thinkin Cornflake Girl belongs to BFP!!! Absolutely. It's so strange to find that song in UTP. LoL.
: Front Row - Alanis Morissette... LIVE (Thanks Rob, great version!) God, I wanna hug Alanis again right now!!!!!!!

For me, it has nothing to do with Scarlet's Walk. And with any other album.
