Whoohoo! I'll go listen when I get back from my volunteer work that I'm about to leave for.... I was planning to do my usual Monday scouring of the dent and related sites when I returned, so thanks for saving me a few clicks, Mandy!!

I dont like either of them, im really angry, so far it sounds like scarlets walk 2 .... and I never thought she'd sing a whole song in the lower range of her voice I hate that aahh and sleeps with butterflies sounds like its trying very very hard to be radio friendly...of course im still gonna get the album and book but I truly pray that the rest of the album is better Ok after a few more listens to sleeps with butterflies I am enjoying it whew...but I will NEVER like the other one lol I dont like the growly Tori

We had this same issue when Scarlet's Walk came out... some absolutely loved some of the songs and some hated them (at first anyway). I really like Cars and Guitars, despite the "lower range"... That "keep on driving" part REALLY stands out, I LOVE it! Reminds me a bit of "because of the rain" in Northern Lad. Oh, and the ch-chah's or whatever she's "rapping" sounds really cool... I like that effect and the beat. Sleeps With Butterflies is GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!! So what if it's radio-friendly... it beats half the crap that's on the radio! Alright, I'm giddy. ... and I want more! I'm so impatient! Did I ever tell you all about the Christmas where my sister and I unwrapped and re-wrapped ALL our gifts to see what was inside them? OMG... we did it one day after school... my mom being the the organized freak that she was had all our gifts wrapped and under the tree a good 2 weeks before Christmas. It was just too much temptation, dammit. (Man, we got some cool stuff and had to be all quiet about it, lol) We were found out on Christmas day when Mom realized so many of the packages with our names on them had tape that wasn't sticking so well anymore... and my sister and I tried to play it off but we couldn't look her in the eye. Ahh, 1983. Our family still talks about it. I'm much better now! I'd never do that! I promise! But I'm still impatient when it comes to the good stuff like Tori. I'm kind of hoping now, like Trevor said elsewhere, that she'll have this album streamlined into only an hour or so of playtime. I mean, if all the tracks make it to the album, so be it... But I thought Scarlet's Walk, as good as it was/is, was a bit overwhelming, time-wise. "Sonic Novel" or not. I hope she does a lot of deeper darker stuff. I'm dying to hear what the heck Ribbons Undone will sound like.... I really like the impression the title gives me.

Mandy, I hear ya.. it would've been ok to keep this in the Lounge. But some members prefer not to have any knowledge of "spoilers" about the album. So teasing them with thread titles in the Lounge might be just a bit much. Since we have the boards organized to hold all the Beekeeper info here anyway, it just makes sense to keep it all in one place. Plus the ones who DO want spoilers will know where to go. ;D BRING ON MORE!

oh, what the heck: and You'll never believe what I did yesterday for two hours!! After seeing a link on the Dent for 'promosquad.com', a site where you can review upcoming songs from all artists, I surfed on over in the hope that I'd get a chance to review 'Sleeps With Butterflies', as stated on the Dent. Well! I sat for two hours reviewing only hip-hop/R & B and electronic stuff which just about had me tearing my hair out!! Then I thought, 'hmmm..' maybe their giving me this sort of music to review since in my questionaire, I said I liked completely different music! So, I felt like I should outsmart them and log in again, and then change the answers on the questionaire to liking hip-hop etc, and then they might give me really alternative music (like Tori!) to review. But, I realised it was all getting a bit much, and just signed out. So, I want to say: THANKYOU Mandy and Jason!! Ok, I'm gonna go listen now -only cos some peeps have already. I just didn't want to be the only one...
: Yaweh ~U2 (but soon Tori)

I'm not the biggest fan of Tori's deep voice either, but then I know I would sadly miss 'Time' if it wasn't in my life. 'Mrs Jesus', while not entirely deep voicey, has been growing on me lots recently too. And secretly, I'm just beginning to get into 'In The Springtime Of His Voodoo' -8 years later!! But that's part of the beauty of Tori's music I think. You can never (oops!) be completely bored at the one time. Songs will crawl up your back one day and say 'BOO!' or just camp out in your hair for a while until they know they can suitably shock you. Or something!! You know what I mean! But there is absolutely no pressure as well, just cos it's Tori. EDIT: Ha ha! Just went to yessaid, and the bandwidth has been exceeded today!! Sorry Josh, I really wanted to come back and comment... oh well. Maybe I'll try later tonight my time which by then will be the next day US time.

Thats the funny part about this is I haven't been around to comment on a new album with you all or anything. As you will learn my opinion on Tori songs changes alot. I did not like FTCH or TVAB at first now I adore them and all the songs you named that she sings in a lower range I love too so you are right I'm sure it will grow on me, it usually does. I know I dont give SW enough credit, thats somethingI will admit to. As for me being upset that its radio friendly I do agree Mary that it would be a huge breath of fresh air to hear it on the radio but I honestly dont want to see a massive hit for her it would kind of ruin it for me. Thats just how I am its personal and its always been special , if EVERYONE gets it its not so special...does that make sense? Lets face it I shouldn't kid myself she could sing the ABCs and I would love it so eh I jumped the gun...just watch how many times I change my mind about it ..can we change my name to sybil?

I completely understand Especially about the specialness part. I'll never forget what Jenn (Happy Phantom) said once about Tori fans: that we are the 'chosen ones', which is why she's not so mainstream and totally popular. I really love that idea

I found them elsewhere! I'm enjoying Cars And Guitars quite a bit! It's very different -especially her funny noises! This sounds like something funky to drive to and hear on the radio... Sleeps With Butterflies almost sounds like a sequel to Snow Cherries From France lyric-wise and a tiny bit sound-wise. I can see the connections with SW here too. Definitely radio-friendly.

Ooh, hadn't realised the clips would be so LONG...
...in fact, the really odd thing is, they sound complete. Tell me I'm crazy, but there's no sign of a fade in or fade out. Is it possible these are two rather short songs? Or am I completely making this up? Someone's done some mighty fine editing if they're excerpts.
The choruses of both are the best bits on initial listen. The "keep on driving" part of Cars and Guitars was a particular thrill.
Regarding 'low register'... "Sugar", especially live, is dominated by low register. Compared to that, Cars isn't particularly surprising.
