Thank you redcloud Thank you Nattie! Thank you, Lau! I'm still kinda nervous about it all. My new mantra is "It will all work out" Thank you, hehehehehe. I'm getting my tubes tied after this one is born (hope for a girl!!!! lol). We want to adopt, and I think after this, I will be done having babies. And for some wierd reason, it feels like I was just pregnant... Oh, yeah, maybe because I was LOL. And yes, Kevin will be 1 in February. I dont' know where time has gone, but I can't believe he's been here a year. Still feels like yesterday that i was wondering when he'd come home. *sigh* I can't wait to have all of our pictures and videos up, YAY! Thank you again, sweets. I miss you too!

^congrats on being pregnant, I hope the next nine months go smoothly for you.
random update from me: I might be in a upcoming BMX comp. there’s going to be heaps of Melbourne riders there as well as some coming down from sydney. Depending on whose riding will determine whether I'll compete or not. My stuff looks verry crappy compared to a lot of the potential competiters so I might just watch.

OMFG I just got back from the flemington comp (BMX). I rode my ass off with only 2 hours sleep within the last 24 hours. pulled off some cool tricks, and went far better than I thought despite the fact that I kinda sucked compared to most of the riders there. I'm so fucking psyched!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, the year 2005 is at its end and boy, did I have a rollercoaster ride especially study and work-wise. During the year I worked in altogether 6 different jobs--none of them too steady or profitable--and especially one of them left me kinda scarred. But the good news is this: I have two jobs lined up for the spring and I will start in the second week of January. First of all, I will teach "scientific English" to Chemistry, Math, Marketing, Physics and Computer Science students at the University! Here in Finland students have to take at least one course in three foreign languages on how to read and write scientific texts from their field of study (for example I had to take a course in Swedish, but could compensate for English and German with my minor studies so I didn't need to take a separate course). And that's what I'm going to teach! It's kinda scary in a way because I'm supposed to know the lingo of Chemistry and Math, heh. But I'll learn Secondly, I will teach Finnish for Foreigners (basic, intermediate and advanced intermediate) at our community college in the evenings. Too bad that neither of these jobs are really permanent, but more on the basis of "we'll have you here for this semester and then we'll see what'll happen", but it's better than nothing, right? I'm just so happy that after all this time, I'm actually getting jobs that have something to do with my field of studies and not just cleaning!

Oh, Jenni - I wish you all the best of luck this year with your work. I don't know why they wouldn't want to keep you forever! Seriously.

I'd like to make a very overdue announcement: You'll be able to see me crossing this very intersection some time after February, 14, 2006! This has been in the works for a couple of months now, but I didn't want to share with you guys until I knew for sure I had a job to go to and it was a very definite thing. I am absoulutely over the moon about this ;D Many of you know that I was living in Japan when I first came to this forum, and that I had to leave due to a very messy break-up. Since I've been back home in Aussie, I haven't stopped thinking about Japan, and all the beautiful people I had to leave behind so suddenly. Of course, my time back home these last two years has been great - I decided to go back to uni to continue my Japanese studies and my passion for the Japanese culture has continued to grow. My friendships have also grown exponentially, I must say (especially with my dear Jodi) and I feel closer to my mum than I ever have before. Part of my heart still lies in Japan, though, and I have to (and very much want to!) go back and reclaim it. I can honestly say that I didn't realise how much of an impact this country would have on me, but I guess when you travel outside your own country to a very different place, it's quite a natural thing to have happen - especially if you have the support of new friends as I did. I know that Japan is not a place for everyone, but I do believe there is something there for just about anyone. Whether you're into electronics and technology of the mind-boggling kind, or you seek solace and natural beauty in the great many mountains that make up most of Japan's topography. For me, I have a loooooot of people I need to catch up with (including multiple god-children!). I also need to get back to basics and practice the language daily with friends and colleagues. My confidence at uni has plunged quite dramatically (as have my grades), and I've come to realise that maybe uni isn't the best environment for me to learn. Academic Japanese wasn't something I even considered. All I ever wanted to do was talk to people, so, after much thinking and discussion with friends and family, I decided to take time off uni in 2006 and return to Japan. Since then I have been applying madly for teaching jobs almost everyday, and last month I received an offer from my old job there. I accepted, but soon after, I received three more offers to teach elsewhere, and that's when I knew I had to think seriously about how my prospective job would affect my future. I decided to cancel my application with my old job, and accept the offer to teach at an actual school. I'm VERY excited! I will be teaching in-house at the school, and then drive to a kindergarten and junior high school to assist the Japanese teachers there. I'll be in the country, though, which will be quite a different experience to living in Tokyo, but I feel it's necessary if I want to actually use the language (there are less English-speakers in rural areas). My new city is Kashima, which lies along the coast, facing the Pacific Ocean. It's about two hours north-east of Tokyo by bus, so I'll still be able to see my friends on weekends, etc. So, everyone, if you're thinking of coming to Japan anytime soon, you can come and jump in my little go-go mobile and I'll show you the time of your life! #61# #10# #61# #10# #61# #10# #61# #10#

Oh my goodness Helen, that's wonderful! I know what it feels like to yearn to another place when you've made your life and friends there.
You're a brave individual for wanting to go back and have a sort of a closure for everything instead of leaving your dreams to hang! I wish you all the best in your ventures!
