Aimee, Your post made me think, If she likes a bit of humor, has she tried Roddy Doyle's books? I love Roddy Doyle's book Paddy Clark, Ha Ha Ha...I found it really funny and endearing. Hey, I just got this book! I bought a second hand copy and it arrived today. As soon as I've finished the book I'm reading now, I'll start it. Thanks for the suggestion

Carly, I've never heard of her. I have a feeling that I can trust that we have similar tastes in books (well, except for fantasy ) so I'll be writing this author's name down. Now that I have a bit more money, I think I'll also invest on Denise Duhamel's stuff! Ahh, to own more than one book of poems...

I was just re-reading the thread I made for you the other day because I was in the mood for her poetry. I need to purchase some of her books, too. Anyway, Anne Lamott is most known for her novel Blue Shoe but I haven't read that one. I read All New People and Hard Laughter. She's a really quirky writer and I was constantly thinking to myself, "How the hell did she come up with that?!" or "I wish I had written that."

I don't love Anne Lamott's fiction but I did love her book Operating Instructions: My Son's First Year. It is hilarious and moving! If you like her, Carly, you have to read this.
