I just finished The Mistress' s Daughter by A.M. Homes. I was really drawn in by it. It's her personal story of being adopted and the emotional journey as she meets her birth parents. She's an interesting writer - brings up varied and intense emotions. that sounds interesting! i just started the memory keeper's daughter last night. what is it with all the books with titles of so-and-so's daughter or wife???

Dracula - Bram Stoker
A friend solved my "what to read?" problem by suggesting this, seeing as halloween is just round the corner.

I'm looking for something to read...I know I'm getting a book by the author of Morvern Callar (a great book, btw) for Christmas but I don't know what to read till then.
I was smiling at the comments about Wuthering Heights...it can be confusing, I don't even remember the details, but it seems she was one of the first to write in that modern style of a story being told by different narrators, so it was probably not too smooth.
i also read A Thousand Splendid Suns and it was very good.
Maybe I should read trainspotting/

yes, the film is great, too. I also like Lynn Ramsey's other film, Ratcatchers. I'm getting The Sopranos by Alan Warner, it's supposed to be about teenaged girls so I thought it might be like Morvern. I can't wait to read it!

My book life is a mess right now - not reading enough, am trying to remedy that over the summer holidays... the book I was reading is turning out to not mesh well even though my sister and dad both loved it. Waiting for something I ordered online to arrive and trying to resist the urge to just start reading LOTR instead.
