Smokey Joe
Smokey Joe
You're calling at the station
"If I kill him
There are complications."
I did not ask for this
"Oh, but love, yes you did."
These are 2 Pips arguing with each other in anger about their consequences, their justice, the way they feel in the moment, but then that inevitable..."What will happen tomorrow?" If she kills him, there are complications. The one that feels the crime is justified says that she didn't ask for his, it's his fault and the one who thinks more rationally is saying, "Oh, but love, yes you did." (You are responsible for your actions).
Maybe it terrifies me
This quiet siege
Maybe it terrifies me
It's too easy
It's too easy
To wish you harm
It's too easy
You through
Black ice
At the bottom of the river
The rational one realizes that she's terrifying herself by having these killing thoughts. I think there are great ties between this song and "The Waitress.
Smokey Joe
Hey, what's a revelation?
"That one's past is not a destination.
It is a road for fools
Who need empty approvals."
This one I have trouble interpreting. "That one's past is not a destination. It is a road for fools who need empty approvals." could mean that because of someone's past they feel they are justified to do certain things but it's just a pathetic cry for help? I don't know, I'm all messed up on this one.
My dark twin
The annihilating feminine
Does not need
Civilizing
This is the angry Pip saying that her annihilating self does not need justifying at all. She wants to let her anger and killing-urge take over her body because she is so enraged.
Smokey Joe
Hey, can you pass the pipe?
"You have been blessed
Now go be wise
It is a coward who will say he's not afraid
Of dying
When he is
Potently
Alive
She's calling him in a lie. She proving that this man is in fact very afraid of death because he thrives on power and if he's dead, he has none of it.
A songless robin
She became
He stole my sister
Clitorides
These silken rubber gloves
Choking his vitriolic tongue
I think we're supposed to assume that the reason Pip wants to kill Smokey Joe is because he did "stole" or did something terrible like raped or kidnapped Clyde (Clitorides) and that's why she is the the highest point of rage because she is her sister. I love the graphics behind "These silken rubber gloves choking his vitriolic tongue."
