Finally my review.
We, me, my boyfriend Merlijn, and three other friends Marjol, Fleur and Nienke went to the show together. I was very nervous and I always get a little grumpy-ish before Tori-things happen
. So we got in our car and drove the long drive (3 hours) to Rotterdam.
We were there at about three and the meet ‘n greet happened already! At half past two! I was very disappointed but I already met her once in Amsterdam (at a signing) so that was a comfort. We ate something and listened to the soundcheck through the door. The doors opened at seven and my seat was a little disapointing too, row eleven (nothing wrong with that) but seat 3 on the left side so we were basically looking at Tori’s back during much of the show. Tom mcRae was allright, personally I didn’t like it very much.
At nine Tori came on and the crowd cheered, she did a little bow at us and by this moment I was crying, as usual. I wonder when that is going to stop, never I guess. Original sinsuality was beautiful. And then Blood Roses! Amazing! She belted it out and I loved it! After that Icicle!!!!! Thank you Tori!!!
After Mother Revolution she said hello to us. She told us: “There’s no place like this, you know. This is the only place where I won’t get arrested for beeing a feminist. [crowd cheered and I laughed] I want to make this a livingroom tonight so … light your lamp for me.”
Silent all these years was beautifull and intense. Martha’s foolish ginger was very different than the album version, it gave me a whole new perspective to the song.
Bells for her and yes … crying again.
The piano bar. Tori said that our request “didn’t totally suck” and we all laughed. She said she’d play some of the list though. Personal jesus WOW! Amazing!! She sang: be your own personal jesus girls and made a little hand gesture, I think she put her hands to her heart.
A case of you, this is one of my favorite covers.
Baron’s of suburbia, tear in your hand and then Northen Lad. I love that song and really hoped she’d play it! It was very beautifull. Marianne was lovely. The beekeeper was a little too long for me but I did enjoy it.
After Tori ran of the stage I ran to the front and was first there!! I was very close to the stage so finally I could see her a little bit better! Encore 1: Little Amsterdam, she always plays that song here. I would have been funny if she sang Little Rotterdam but she didn’t
.
Rattlesnakes: this was my favourite song from the whole night. She looked at us directly and seeing her eyes, so intense I just had to cry again. It was very beautifull!
Encore 2: the power of orange knickers and hey jupiter. I had been listening to Hey Jupiter (dakota version) all day and I was very glad she played it!
I waited a long time in front of the stage and eventually got the setlist
. She played her written setlist exactly, but on the setlist it says
Rattlesnarks and not Rattlesnakes I thought that was funny.
We waited for a long while outside (at the artist entrance) for Tori to come out. She came out and waved at us then went into her tourbus.
We got in our car and drove home, when we were on the freeway (snelweg in Dutch) suddenly Tori’s tourbus drove behind us! She had to go in the same direction (brussels in belgium) and people on the road were honking (is that the word?) and waving at her bus. It was funny
. I had a great time but the next show I really want to have a better seat. There also was a lot of walking around going on during the show, which was annoying! Stop that please! But after all it was a very amazing night!
I just noticed there is a lot of ‘beautifull’ and 'amazing' in this review
.
