too bad i didn't realize that till after i'd already started doing it... so, i was in a study group of... five the other day and my "pedagogic assignment", they call it, for the week was to bring some sort of literary assessment for subjective interpretation. and, of course, being i'm not too sane myself, i brought A Sorta Fairytale, Scarlet under my arm and all. dudes, it was insane. first i thought it'd be a good song to work on cuz it is - well, it seemed to be - one of her easiest in terms of lyrical comprehension (boy, was i wrong) and second because, considering the Scarlet concept-album and the various places mentioned along the song, i thought it'd be great for subjective interpretation, seeing two people's relationship metaphorized in a roadtrip. well, it was a noble effort, but i'm not sure anyway but me got it. as a matter of fact, i'm not sure i got it myself... so anyway, have any of you only realized how difficult tori's songs are after trying to mess with one of them? lol... i'm staying away from Scarlet for the rest of my life. at least in literary respects!

Hehe I wouldn't have any useful input, I don't like interpreting songs at all. Not to say I never think about what songs mean (I do frequently) - but only when it comes naturally. Your poor brain! I would perscribe something alcoholic, around 3 times an hour, for at least a couple of hours... that should help

my problem with this is that while i like to "decode" her, i always end up seeing the songs from whatever is going on in MY life at the moment! so it's always really colored... fun though!
good luck!

I would have thought that Scarlet's Walk had relatively good options for doing this... but it's still only relative! There are still plenty of odd lines in even the songs I find easiest to 'get', like Amber Waves, Your Cloud and the title track.
But it's true of absolutely ANYTHING. People interpret every single thing that ever comes out of your mouth.
