So, I was thinking about my perfect Beekeeper - can I put Cloud On My Tongue on there somewhere? How 'bout Virginia?...

Marianne... HEAR HEAR!! ;D
My life has been so busy this week that I have only listened through the CD once so far. Heard STS via the website a few times and it still has not caught on. It is a state of unstable dislike with STS, but not *hate* like with 95 Bonnie and Clyde. It took a year but I went from *hate* to *love* with Heart of Gold so I don't want to come out and publicly say I *hate* STS. It sure feels like it right now.
How many times has everyone else listened to Beekeeper so far?

Tori: "I think it’s best that I don’t turn on a computer, because the last thing you need to hear is, ‘She was a bit bloated last night,’ [Laugh] You really don’t want to know that. You have to expect that people will express themselves and they do. They really do... So I stay away from it because people come up to me and say, ‘Are you pregnant?’ I’m like, ‘No, I just had Mexican food. Sorry.’ " [Arkansas Democrat - October 8, 1998] Do you ever visit the many Web sites your fans have set up? Tori "I kind of stay away from that. People’s opinions of what I’m doing are really none of my business." [VH1.com - 1999] When I was carrying out research for the interview, I was astonished by the amount of websites devoted to her. I tell her that there are actually Tori Amos websites, created by fans, which exist for the sole purpose of listing other Tori Amos websites. How does it feel to be so out of control about what other people are saying about you? Tori: "I must tell you, I try and stay away from them. There are people on the crew who are very aware of what's going on, and they tell me things on a need to know basis. I think that I kind of decided it wasn't my business. That I'd be intruding. People have to feel they have the freedom to discuss things. And by eavesdropping, their discussion might stop me doing something and following my own creative beliefs because I got caught in a web that I shouldn't have been in." How many times has everyone else listened to Beekeeper so far? LOL, I'm still not a fan of Bonnie and Clyde, either, dear. Since we don't like it that much, it's probably not a suprise that I always want to call it "96 Bonnie and Clyde" (I have no idea why) and you called it "95 Bonnie and Clyde". The real year is 97! LOL Go, us! To answer your question, My iTunes tells me I've listened to it 17 times, and I know I've had at least 5 listens in the car and 10 listens on the regular stereo. So, I've listened to the Beekeeper over 30 times now. (With a few songs repeated, so even more listens) STS is really turning out to be one of those 'not so easy to get into' Tori songs, I think. I do like it, quite a bit actually, but I've found that sometimes my mood is one of being too impatient for it. Only sometimes. But, I've been tempted to hit skip when I feel like that. It's its own song, that's for sure.

And I think it's really the only way you can be truly creative... If you listen too much to what one fan or another says, what people say about you in magazines, you'd end up trying to please them and not yourself. And we all know Tori is about pleasing herself...

Plus why listen to a fan and not another?
Right there lies the end of honesty in art.
