Dear Tori, I love your new Beekeeper album. It's a beautiful and impressive piece of work. As with everything you produce, this album reflects so much of you and where you are right now (at least our impression of you, anyway). I think that's special. YOU are special. You are one of the most amazing musicians and human beings I've ever "known". Thank you for making your music for us. All that said, please forgive me when I say that, if I had it my way, I would drop a few of the songs from the tracklisting (and make them b-sides; I don't want to banish them completely!), add a song, and then re-arrrange things a bit. I know, how very naughty and downright arrogant of me, huh? I've had the album a week and I'm already considering restructuring your perfection. I'm sorry, but I can't help it. Just for the curiosity of my friends here I'm going to share what MY "The Beekeeper" would look like: -------------------------------------------------- 1. Parasol 2. Original Sinsuality 3. Jamaica Inn 4. Sweet The Sting 5. The Power Of Orange Knickers 6. Barons Of Suburbia 7. The Beekeeper 8. Sleeps With Butterflies 9. General Joy 10. Mother Revolution 11. Garlands 12. Marys Of The Sea 13. Witness 14. Goodbye Pisces 15. Hoochie Woman 16. Ribbons Undone 17. Toast-------------------------------------------------- [I ditched Saab-reland, Choked Cars and Wobbly-strung Guitars, and Martha's Annoying Ginger ]

Your Beekeeper looks an awful lot like the Beekeeper I've been putting together in my head.

Your Beekeeper looks an awful lot like the Beekeeper I've been putting together in my head. Yay! The 3 musts for me were: 1. Putting Garlands on 2. Putting OS up sooner because I want to hear that piano right in the beginning, plus I feel like that song is the backbone of the "theme" of the album (hello, it's her tour name, so I must be on the right track with that) and it should set the backdrop sooner in the listening 3. Putting The Beekeeper just before Sleeps With Butterflies because I like how that sounds and I want that awesome title track (and some darkness) to hit me sooner.

I wish it were longer! I don't really like where it is on the album because it's so dark and pretty and then yucky Ireland comes right after it, yucky-ing it all up. I love your new names for the ditched songs!

Hehe... Well, I was venting my anger over in Pinkland because I thought I would start arguments over here with the people who are head-over-heels in love with this album (and I am glad that some people are grabbed by the whole album). I'll come back later with what my desired The Beekeeper would like. , Disillusioned Carly

I love your new names for the ditched songs! Uh, I tried to quote and respond to this above but it got all weirded out. See, I was listening to Ireland when I posted that. It's the (yucky) song's fault. Let's try this again: LMAO, I thought you might like those ditched song names I gave! Yeah, I wish OS was WAY longer. I keep thinking she could have done another half to it and really stretched out the "you are not alone in your darkness" the 2nd time. BUT, in a way I kind of like it as the simple beautiful statement that it is. The thing is, where it's currently placed on the album and the length it's currently at, it's almost like a little intermission with a big message. I think THAT works well for it, meaning the length and the placement. But my love for the song makes me want it longer and want it sooner. Ohh. LOL I know you get what I'm saying. ;D

Thanks god I love you girls so much, but Guess it's good to have different Tori tastes, but cmon... hating songs? LoL, its a bit too much for me. Maybe cos I love the whole album and I couldnt get rid of any of the songs... Anyway, yes, Mary, you are very rude but very funny at the same time, which is great. Hope you can get to like the songs you hate now... I'm hurt cos you deleted two of my favs. But I love you anyways, and I get so much fun from this threads you couldnt believe.

LOL, thanks Luckita.
I should say that I don't have any songs that I COMPLETELY dislike. So, using the word "hating" to describe my feeling for any whole song is way too strong. (Lol, Carly might feel differently)
Tori has a way with doing that to me: she'll make me LOVE a certain part of a song while not really caring for the rest. USUALLY what happens is the part I'm not fond of finds its way into my heart anyway and I will later look back and say 'hey that wasn't so bad, this part does have some merits.' Everything sort of gels together and each song finds its own 'slot' in my mind.
BUT, with this album, there are those 3 songs that, even though they have little gems in them, I just really DON'T like well enough right now to keep on what I'd call the perfect Beekeeper album. I'd want them around as b-sides to listen to once in a while, just to hear that side of Tori occasionally. But for right now anyway, I'm not open to letting those songs gel with the others. They just aren't as worthy, in my opinion.
Since it's my practice to listen to the whole album, as is, anyway (and I will; I'm half-kidding about reordering the songs for any REAL kind of listening... I simply appreciate Tori too much to let my brain get turned around by any ordering other than what she lays out for us... I was just experimenting here a bit) I'm sure the songs I'm not fond of will find their little slot in my ranking-geared brain. It's just that I dont' expect them to work up from the bottom slots any time soon. The other songs are simply TOO GOOD.
That said, I can remember listening to Riot Poof (we call it the "Baked Potato" song at my house) and being turned off by everything about it except the end. It's weird to think that now because I really love that whole song. But there was a time...

Nobody said anything about "hating" certain songs...
Until now.
I hate Cars and Guitars I cringe every time I hear it. I know it will not grow on me.
Like I said before, I am glad that there are people who love the whole album...however, I am not one of them.

What's cool, though, is that now you're backed off from your I-Hate-STS opinion. Or, wait.? Are you still hating it as much as the cars? Are you back to inching ever closer to the tip of that scorpion's tail and then saying EWWWWW?! LOL

LOL Well, I had qualms with the H word on Tuesday, hence my "I dislike Sweet the Sting immensely" statement. LOL Here's the thing about Sweet the Sting. It has grown on me a little bit. I'm liking the music more but I'm willing to say that I hate the lyrics. Then there's Ireland...I don't like the lyrics or the music. Same goes for Cars and Guitars. So, my least fav is Cars and Guitars. My second least fav is Ireland and Sweet the Sting is my third least fav. So, it's moved up but I don't see it moving up any further.

I'll go do that, then post your question there! ;D I think other will share your frustration. I have the Limited Edition, though, so even thought the lyrics are on the seams in some spots, they are easy to read, just like a BOOK.
