I love "The Beekeeper", but I miss the strings. "Original Sinsuality" would sound twice as good if there had been a string arrangement...

I'd lie if I said I didn't miss the strings! The title track is probably one of the most elaborate songs musically. And there strings in it.
The overall sound of the album is far from what I liked best in Tori.

Hmm. I think Original Sinsuality is one of my favorites because it's missing things I consider "extra" Because the song is so short I think just the piano accompaniment fits it well. But I think I can imagine having some strings in there. Sounds like Tori ditched the strings for this album for bongo drums, hee. I found them a bit of a surprise, but I dig them now.

Yeah "Original Sinsuality" is good the way it is but other weaker songs would have merited a few strings.

No, I don't miss the strings! Yet.
When I'm done grieving the lack of audible piano, I'll focus on the strings...

I don't have the slightest problem about there not being strings. The amount of strings has varied hugely from one album to the next anyway. Scarlet's Walk was relatively string heavy. I doubt To Venus and Back had any.
And, stunning though her piano playing is, I don't listen to Tori for the piano either. I listen because she has an incredible ear for all sorts of musical colour. Besides, I can hear more piano on this album than on some of the others (Venus again). It's on 18 tracks out of 20 and I can always hear it, just not the entire song.

I hear you, Trevor I myself have noticed the presence of the piano in the other songs -- I'm just wishing the piano would be more prominent. After all, it's her 'girl', and I miss the times when the piano was more akin to having its own melodies which would compliment Tori's voice than just accompanying the melody with fifths and full chords :/ Maybe this is why I also like Martha's Foolish Ginger: the piano has its own life in that song.
