Welcome to Toriforum Bookclub!
This is a place for all of us bookworms to love and loathe books. Feel free to start threads on any topics, books or authors you can think of!
Before you do that, however, we’d like you to take a look at what is going to happen over at this board and what the general guidelines are.
The Book Club
It wouldn’t be a club if we didn’t have clubbish activities, right? Every now and then we’ll choose either certain titles, authors or themes that everyone who wants to participate in the club could read.
If our current club event is an author or certain titles, everybody is encouraged to start threads on them! Just remember to include the letters BC in front of your thread name to indicate that this is now a bookclub entry. Because this is a very international a forum, it's best for everyone to have at least 2 options to choose from when we are choosing titles to read together. This is so that everybody has a better chance of finding books in their bookstores or libraries: as we know, a lot of American books just don't make it across the Atlantic until someone makes a huge noise out there, and vice versa
Another activity what we'll hopefully have, is themes. We will choose one theme at a time. It can be either a genre (fantasy, historical novel, autobiography etc), a time period17th century, the 20s, etc) , or a certain topic (family, immigration, bears in novels, anything!). Once we have decided on a theme, you can go out and pick any book you wish within that theme, and then run back to the board to introduce your find to everybody else!
Spoilers
If you are starting a thread on a particular book and feel like it’s impossible to discuss the story without revealing major plot parts, please include a spoiler warning in the thread title, for example like this:
The Best of Barbara Cartland *spoilers*
This gives members who haven’t read the said story yet a heads-up and they probably should visit the thread after having read the book.
Sometimes a discussion may turn from non-spoilerish to spoilerish . Then you can just PM Koalapupu and ask her to add a spoiler warning in the title if necessary.
Moderators
Koalapupu is the main moderator of this section of Toriforum, if you have any questions or concerns please direct them to her inbox first, then to someone else if you can't reach her right away.
Other guidelines
All other guidelines for Toriforum apply also in this section. If you're new to the forum, you can check these guidelines out at the top of the main page of Toriforum.
Now go, read and post! ;D
