Well folks, I must say... I don't like it. And that's really hard to put out there. I have been with the grrl since LE, a die hard fan of serious proportions. I have been at a music store at opening time on release day for every single album since UTP. I own over 150 singles, compilations, bootlegs, and soundtracks. I have all the books. And I have listened to this album twice now. And I hate it. Usually, a week in, I know all the lyrics, and can sing the whole album through without even a blink. I can't even get through this one in one sitting. It's too hard. I mean, musically. She sounds like she is trying to do a heavy metal thing, or something. The only two tracks I can even get remotely excited about are Maybe California and Welcome to England. I think I just want my grrl and a piano back. I still love her more than most folks I actually personally know, however, and I must say, I never thought that TBK would ever be more than my least fave album, but it has just been promoted to my next to least fave. On the bright side: the next one is going to be mind-blowing-- She really pulled out all the stops for ADP, after the mediocre reception of TBK, so she'll really slam the hell out of that piano the next time!!

Sadly, I agree. I will give it some time and maybe (I doubt it) it will grow on me. I guess maybe I'll listen to Pele and pretend its new.

I am sad about this. I'm sorry you guys didn't enjoy it I actually like this album better than ADP, aside from Bouncing off Clouds and Beauty of speed. I was shocked that I like it. Excluding a few songs from each album prior to AATS, this is my favorite since SW. While this is my favorite album with the band since FTCGH, I couldn't help thinking after listening to it that you don't hear the piano as much anymore. Which is why I fell in love with Tori in the first place. No offense to any John and Matty fans. I do like them sometimes just not all the time. Unfortunately there will never be another BFP It was such a different time in her life and her in her career. She's into the whole band thing right now and I'm just trying to accept it as a fan (and hope that she'll be over it soon) cause I love her no matter what. I do miss the Tori who used to just go off on her piano and hope she'll be back soon. It's so weird cause I'm really a guitar girl, but there's just something about the way she plays that makes me get off musically. She can play anyway that I want!

I thought AATS was absolutely fantastic. The phrasing she uses throughout is so unusual, and her melodies captivating. I don't agree that some songs on this album are 'filler' (as some have suggested). I loved them all, particularly Flavor and Oscar's Theme.

Well maybe sooner they'll improve. Now, at least they know what are their weak points and as time goes by they can improve on it.
