Is that your real name? I have a cousin named Leeony... because she was conceived in New York (her parents are from Frankfurt, Germany).
Lee of NY = Leeony
Anyway, just curious. I always thought it was a cute name.

 how cute of you to ask yeah Leonie is my real name, i thought it was a typical dutch name you pronounce it like lee-o-ny so that's much like your friends name i think it's funny you like my name ... because i dont like my name! i hate the way people pronounce it! they always pronounce it the wrong way like le-oe-ni , because that's they way you would normally pronounce it in Holland ... so |

That's neat! I never realized it was a common name, I really thought that my aunt and uncle had just made it up or something (because of the Lee of NY thing). They just spelled it wrong on purpose so it would mean something...
Anyway I think it's a really pretty name! It sounds very unique, I can't think of any American name that sounds like it.

I think it´s a beautiful name, too and guess what i pronounced it right!!! I don´t like my name, surely it´s not Pinkdesaster, it´s Rebecca.

Leonie, I remember in a post a while back that you had mentioned the fact that you knew alot of Leonies. And I thought to myself "hmm, I only know one that comes close, and that is Leona". Anyway, I love your name, and Rebecca is great too! For me, it isn't necessarily that I don't like my name, but I swear it is so WEIRD to hear it, even when somebody is talking to me. I dunno.... my boyfriend sometimes says my name, then follows with "whose name is difficult for her to hear" because I have commented on it a couple times. Though it isn't difficult, it is just that sometimes I forget that is my name, honestly. Yet I do not know why I forget it, coz I dont have any other name I go by??? Anyway, that is me rambling  |

ya, i hear ya about the name sounding weird....
hardly anybody ever calls me by name (Mary).
I was always "Mayr" (pronounced mare) with all my friends....(my best friend in 6th grade changed the letters around one day & it just stuck)
My dad called me "babe" and still does....
My mom calls me "honey" and still does (lol, i'm 32...when does that end?!)
And when my sis who is 2 yrs younger than me was a baby, she pronounced my name "Maaaayweee"....all of my extended family calls me that, now. Even when I get birthday cards or letters in the mail they are addressed: Maiwee, or Maywee...you get the idea.
Another name i had was "Maby" ('mabbie') b/c when i still lived at home i had my own private phone line & my dad, being the clever guy that he is, tried to get the last 4 digits as close to MARY as he could (which was silly b/c nobody called me that! lol), but the closest he could get was BARY (2279).....[AM I BORING YOU YET?!]...So one time I was telling a guy from school my phone # & I explained 'it's easy to remember the last part....it's like Mary, but with a B".....the smarta$$ guy said..."oh, you mean MABY?!?!" LOL I became Maby after that & all thru college. My husband called me Maby the whole time we dated!
and nowadays, i'm just MOM! LOL ;D
