No, it's not me, but my little sister is pregnant for the first time!!!! I'm SOOOOOO excited! I'm in the middle of planning her shower, and wanted to know if anyone has any good ideas for games & prizes, or any tips on how to make this the BEST baby shower in history! I just got the invitations, and they are so precious! Not to mention her "Noah's Park" theme....oh good god, this is too too precious, and if I don't stop using the word precious for everything I'm gonna make myself puke ;D But I can't help it....it's just so exciting...the first grandbaby! Anyway, does anybody have any good ideas for the shower? Or maybe some things I should avoid? It's my first time giving one of these, and being the perfectionist I am, I want it to be a memorable and wonderful time for my sis I want so bad to post the sonogram pictures of my little nephew - his face is so clear and beautiful, I cry everytime I see him!!!!!

there's this fun game where every guest brings in a baby picture of themself & people have to guess who's who..know what I mean?
It can be funny.. ;D
You put everyone's picture on the wall & then guests guess who they are.

Congratulations, lilyella!!! Well, i'm a mommy of 2, aunt of 5, godmommy to 2 & from a HUGE family, so i've been to & helped to put on dozens of showers! We have done the baby pic game that haley mentioned above & that's always fun. Another one is the memory game....where there are about 20 baby items on a tray & the guests get to view them for a short time, then you take the tray away & everyone has a limited time to recall as many items & write them down. The winner is the one who can recall the most. We have done it where we write an item on the invitation for each guest to bring & contribute to the game (like baby powder, baby wipes...usually it's under $5....there are tons of things to choose!). That way everyone pitches in....then when the game is over the mommy-to-be gets to keep all the stuff! There are literally hundreds of ideas you can get by looking on the web & searching for baby shower ideas/games. Another fun one we did at my cousin's shower was a game we found on the net (somewhere!) that you could print & copy for everyone....It was the T.V. babies game. there was a list of like 30 popular t.v. shows ranging from all different eras (for example, 'My 3 Sons' all the way up to 'Friends') & there were blanks where you had to fill in the names of the babies/children on the show. Each blank was a point & the winner was the one with the most points. (LOL, I won last time! ) One thing we always do is when guests arrive, we have them sign in in a special keepsake book for the mom, usually near the door/coatroom. In addition to that, we ask each guest to write a little tidbit of advice for the mom-to-be. They are given a cute little piece of stationery with a little envelope to seal their thought in. On the outside of the envelope they are to write an instruction for the mom about WHEN she should open it....and you'll want them to vary a bit....some to be opened for right then that day & some for the future... For example: "open this when the baby has stayed up all night" (and inside, the tidbit might read: Call a friend or neighbor to come watch the baby & lock yourself in your bedroom to sleep for at least 4 hours! lol, this is a great tip!). Or another example: "open this when baby takes first step" (and inside it might read: Now that baby is walking, make sure you have babyproofed all higher surfaces in your home!) You get the idea. And make sure you have them write their name & phone# on the back. Anyone who is a mom, an aunt, or who has babysat someone else's child will have some little tidbit to offer....and the grandma's often fill out 2 or 3! But the really neat thing is that the mom gets to take all the little envelopes home in a cute bag or basket & opens them as she wants/needs to. I had this done for me & I would literally cry when I would open some of those little envelopes.....such precious words & always when i needed them. It's a good idea to have the person's name & # on the back b/c I went & called each person as I opened them. When my daughter was 2 I finally opened the little envelope my aunt had done at my shower that read "open when Alison is 2". I was sooo excited to see what it would be.....and she had written "You are now entering the Terrible 2's....but you can call it the Terrific 2's & when you look back, you will think of it that way....as Terrific, just like you were at 2!" I sobbed! Some of the others that I received were: "When she's an infant/toddler and drops something over & over again & thinks it's the funniest thing in the world, laugh with her & let her know she's right".....and "read, read, read to her.....read everything you can get your hands on....and someday she will do the same on her own." (that has turned out to be really true w/both my kids!)....and of course there were lots of practical tips about diapering & burping & all that stuff, too. I'm not sure what kind of food you're planning, but we always have some kinds of 'baby entrees' there at the shower.....baby carrots & baby corn with other veggies & dip, baby shrimp w/cocktail sauce, and salad made from baby spinach leaves. You get the idea...any 'baby' food! When i found out i was preggo with my 2nd, I 'told' my hubby by preparing a dinner of baby foods like this....He came home & my daughter & I were so excited to see if he would figure it out...those baby corns gave it away b/c we never ate those! LOL okay, that's all I can think of now!

Thanks, everybody! ;D
Those are some great ideas, bumblebee! Right after I wrote this thread, I found babyshower.com - teehee! I definately think we'll do the "baby" food entrees...so cute! I'm so psyched! I'm an Early Childhood Educator, I spend every day with young children and I just can't get enough of them!!! I can't imagine loving any child more than I love my 2 year old Godson, but in April it looks like I will have another love in my life!
WOO-HOO! thanks for all the well-wishes! I love you guys!!

Does anyone else think of the Simpson's song "Baby on Board" when they see the title of this thread or has my boyfriend's Simpsons obsession corrupted me?? Hehe... Anyway, congratulations Auntie lilyella!!
