She's got such feeling in that song. Especially live...
A version I have... she's singing with SO much emotion...
"Oh what they'd do to you.. oh my god.. my sweet boy"...
It just gets under my skin... makes me get emotional.
It's really just a very personal thing. Very personal song for me.

"She's Your Cocaine" (sometimes I love it, often I skip it), "Raining Blood" (I nearly always skip that one), "Amber Waves" (not sure why), and "China" (seems just too sad). I LOVE "Datura" (obviously), "Yes Anastasia" (may actually be my absolute favorite!!), "Carnival", "Don't Make Come to Vegas", and "Happy Phantom"... I was surprised to see them on this post. But, of course, each song hits each person in a totally different way!!  |

why do u guys love sugar?tell me I just adore "Sugar". There is so much emotion in it... the piano, the voice, everything about it just seems so powerful. I, too, find the "sweet boy" section to be irresistable. |

still haven't gotten into most of the songs on SLG. I thought I would love it because I always liked the covers she did in the past. I've never been able to get into it. It also took me a while to get into choirgirl, but now I love it |

Tori Songs I Hated Now Love: Icicle, Putting the Damage On, Iieee, Hotel, Pandora's Aquarium, Josephine, most of SW didn't speak to me at first but now I know them individually and like them Tori Songs I'm Still Not "In" On: Mother, Tear in Your Hand, Marianne, Caught A Lite Sneeze, Glory of the 80s, 1000 Oceans, New Age, Rattlesnakes, Happiness is a Warm Gun, Raining Blood Well Mr Light, it's good to see you're making progress! I distinctly remember telling you to go and listen to Putting the Damage On, what with those surging horn lines and everything. Now we have to work on Rattlesnakes. Listen to that haunting shimmering sound - can't you just HEAR the hot desert air?  Part of the reason I love Rattlesnakes is I think it has the best lyrics by far of any of the SLG songs. They're just magic, only the original version doesn't make as much of them as Tori does in my opinion. Songs I have trouble getting into? Number one would easily be Bells for Her. It's been about 7 or 8 years and it still doesn't do much for me, despite the fact that for quite a few people here it's one of their all-time faves. My mind just wanders away for a large chunk in the middle because it's not interesting enough. |
