Hi Toriphiles!
I've been a fan of Tori since I heard Cornflake Girl. I was only about eleven back then but I thought that song was amazing. The first Tori item I bought was Pretty Good Year Part 2 (with Honey and Black Swan). I live in the UK.
My first album of hers was Under the Pink, then Little Earthquakes, then the others in order. My favourite album is Under the Pink (it just makes me think of those really cold, but really bright, winter mornings for some reason... it has a really pleasantly cold feel to it). I love all her albums except To Venus and Back, which only has four decent songs on it (Concertina, Glory of the 80s, 1000 Oceans and Bliss) - the rest is, to put it bluntly, garbage. The live CD however is amazing.

Hello and Welcome to you, Edgewise! Thanks for sharing about yourself. I love that PGY Pt. 2 single... I listen to it often. Honey is my most favorite Tori b-side and Black Swan is a definite favorite. ;D Um, I gotta say my friend Carly is gonna come in here and STRONGLY disagree with your opinion of songs like Lust and Suede being "garbage"!! Heck, I strongly disagree with it! But welcome to you just the same.

Welcome first of all... second of all, TVAB is AMAZING, you probably haven't given it much of chance, I remember I hated it when I first bought it but now even DATURA is good in my books.... xo

Thanks for the welcome Mary.
I guess I was kind of harsh on To Venus and Back... but to me it doesn't seem like a Tori album. More like a remix album or something. It just seems far too over-produced, you know? She's at her best with just her piano, I think. I'm glad that came back into focus for Strange Little Girls and Scarlet's Walk.
I love Honey, too. But I think my favourite Tori b-side has to be Sugar or Upside Down. Although Honey is incredible, and I can't believe it didn't make the final cut of Under the Pink.

Yeah, Tori herself has said that Honey didn't make the cut simply because she "was a dingaling", lol, and forgot it. Sugar is my husband's most favorite B-side.(and I just saw your list in the lounge, nice start!) You'll see him around here. He's Sean.

Hi, Edgewise~ I'm Carly, the one who's gonna knock you on your butt for calling the majority of TVAB garbage. LOL! I'm partial to that album since my love affair with "Suede" was the catalyst for my love of Tori. Anyway, welcome to the forum - it's good to have you here!

Thanks for the welcome everyone. This seems a very friendly place. I admit I don't really listen to To Venus and Back as much as I should (her first three albums tend to have the most time in the CD player), so maybe I will give it another go. And sorry for any offence caused, maybe I should have been more diplomatic and said it wasn't my taste, haha.

Later on, Paulo and I will discuss with you the "Super Trio" - Lust, Suede, and Josephine. So, if you don't feel like listening to all of TVAB, just try to listen to tracks 5-7 and tell us what you think. LOL Anyway, I really enjoyed your previous description of UTP. I listened to that a couple times last night. It hasn't been in my CD player for quite awhile, so

Okay Carly, you've got yourself a deal. Tomorrow (I'm about to head out tonight, as I have a hot date [translated: I am having dinner with my parents, and am trying to look 'cool' on the 'net]), I will listen to those three songs alles tag and see if I can view them in a different light. Actually, don't kill me, but I think Suede is one of the ones I always skip, because she just seems to be saying "suede" over and over for what seems to be forever. It's like (entering the 14th minute) "suede... suede... suede... suede..." etc., and I'm like "okay Tori, I've got the message" <skips to 1,000 Oceans>.

Although, I think I didn't actually buy a Tori CD until Boys for Pele came out (I borrowed the first two every once in while when I could), simply because I was lazy about buying CDs at that time. I would just wait until a holiday and ask for them as presents. I love your description of Under the Pink, and I often think of it as my favorite, too (though I am very indecisive when it comes to choosing favorite songs... ok, I'm just very indecisive in general!) I agree that TVAB is not my favorite, and the first disc is definitely less played in my stereo than all of my other Tori CDs. I would never call it garbage, though. I am a big fan of "Datura" (obviously) and "Riot Proof". Anyway, it's very nice to meet you and I hope to get to know you better in here. Welcome, again, and happy posting! ~Lauren

Hi Lauren. The song that does it for me (in a bad way) is Spring Haze. It's like, when all is said and done, what is the point of that song? It's just an overly long over produced... mess! I think it's Tori's worst song. Ever. But you know, Glory of the 80s, Bliss, 1000 Oceans and Concertina are some of my most favourite Tori songs. It's just To Venus and Back is the only album of hers where I don't like songs on it (I like every song she's ever done bar the few on To Venus and Back), so I guess that's why I don't listen to it much.

Goodness I keep putting my foot in it Mary don't I? :\
My problem is that I haven't given the album a chance. I'm the first to admit that. But the thing is, I'd sooner put on Earthquakes or Pele, you know?
