No! Not slang at all... I can get pretty much 75% of what Cate Blanchett says, but Hugo Weaving... MY GOD!!!! I haven't felt this inept about the English language since i was seven years old, i swear. and the stranges thing is that watching the making of later on, NONE of them talks like they do in the picture, they sound almost British. wtf?

strange encounter of the day: i met paris hilton's german voice! hehe, as strange as this sounds - it's true. her movies (are there any?) are dubbed into german and i met the girl who 'lends' her voice to paris hilton. it's funny, she looks nothing like paris hilton, not at ALL.

I was thinking of you both yesterday, too. I really can't believe a whole year has passed. Good heavens.... Ugh, she needs to come back. It happened too fast! (and yes!)

I haven't felt this inept about the English language since i was seven years old, i swear. and the stranges thing is that watching the making of later on, NONE of them talks like they do in the picture, they sound almost British. wtf? Haven't seen the movie, but have seen 'shorts' of it. It's deliberately very Australian with some of the characters and the way they talk. I seem to remember the movie got very positive reviews, especially for Hugo Weaving's performance. Most of our more famous actors either never had a broad Australian dialect or have had it bred out of them. The only one I can think of who talks like that even a little bit in real life is Nicole Kidman - she's still the 'middle' dialect, not the broad one. Certainly Cate and Hugo have always had the more 'British' dialect (and so do I). I reckon Cate could get a newsreading job at the BBC if she wanted it. You can tell that even our broad dialect comes from England though - the nearest thing to it is cockney, and it's always funny how foreign actors who haven't mastered the Australian accent end up sounding like cockneys. The Simpsons episode in Australia is a classic example.

Hels & Trevor:Happy Toriversary (for yesterday)! #50# Can't believe it's been a whole year since we saw her live. It's crazy. (and kinda depressing! #59# ) I thought of this too - except I remembered one day either side of the actual date! I can still remember how I felt in Jamaica Inn, though - even without listening to the faint echo of that moment that's captured in the bootleg. Pure, undiluted bliss. Life needs more moments like that. The concert clearly had an effect on me. It's funny how I'm more keen to hear dates for the next tour than I am to hear the release date for the next album. Funny also how my hard drive is now groaning under the weight of all the bits of live performances I've become immensely interested in. I used to roll my eyes at people who knew which performance of a particular song was their favourite, but now I find myself thinking things like "none of the performances of Winter on the original bootlegs set are anywhere NEAR as good as the RAINN benefit concert", or "I wonder if the rest of the 1999 concert in Seattle is as mindblowing as Blood Roses". And, of course, "I've heard 6 live recordings of Jamaica Inn, and none of them come close to Sydney".

And, of course, "I've heard 6 live recordings of Jamaica Inn, and none of them come close to Sydney". OF COURSE NOT! Our one was the best. She loves us more than the other concerts #59# Hey Hels, I'll also be thinking about next Friday - "hmm... this time exactly last year, we were standing around in the bloody cold waiting for a M&G that never really happened.." teehee.

Tori concerts... closest thing i've come to it was hearing Barons Of Suburbia realtime over the phone live from Rotterdam... that'll change next time she's on tour, though.

Trev, I'm pointing at you and rolling my eyes for your live-Tori geekiness now. And speaking of "a new album", let's start all kinds of rumors about what Tori will release next. Come on, someone start. Go. Give it your best shot, this is always fun and we only get to do it about every 2 years....
