Yo George
I salute to you Commander And I sneeze 'Cause I have now An allergy To your policies It seems Where have we gone wrong America? Mr. Lincoln We can't seem to find you anywhere Out of the millions From the deserts to the mountains Over prairies to the shores Is this just the madness of King George? Yo George Is this just the madness of King George? Yo George Well, you have the whole nation On all fours
I think this is one of Tori's most straight forward songs yet. There's not too much to decipher but it is a great song.

I really dont like it. its pollitical yes, but its too generalized. If your fighting for a cause then be specific about what your fighting for.
pollitical themes dont work for anyone appart from zack de la rocha, saul williams and beastie boys. maybe a few others too.

It's not my favourite song, but lyrically I think it's alright. She doesn't need to get down and dirty in the politics like say the above mentioned by Ben. Anything will get under the skin of the President, take the Dixie Chicks (I'm Not Ready to Make Nice). Another song that comes to mind is Pearl Jam's Bushleaguer. It doesn't really matter how powerful the message is whether it be super hard on the President or just stating how they are fed up, it's the fact that so many are on the same page. I'm rambling on.

I agree that Tori doesn't need to be so openly political but Bush is kinda dense. Also I like to listen to this song when angry at gov. issues.

its like a joke without a punchline, she voices her distaste but offers no solution. All I'm saying is, if you wanna get political in music then you have a lot to contend with, and a lot of issues to work with, theres no reason to limit yourself.

I have to agree with Ben: it's so easy to mock Bush these days that this is for me just like Tori hopping on the bandwagon. So we all are disappointed with Bush--that's not really news, is it? I like Tori's political criticism in general (she uses good metaphors and makes it interesting) but this feels half-hearted. I don't know how else to describe it. Let's say I wanted to make sure that people understand that I condemn Rwanda's atrocities after everyone else has written a protest song about it already, and my song says only "Rwanda has a lot of bad men who did a lot of bad things". That's the kind of feeling I get from this song--nothing new on the topic. If Yo George had been written right after Bush was elected or even re-elected, then I would have thought that wow, this woman has guts to say it so straight like this, not hiding whom this song is about! Now it seems like old news, really, because everyone and their mother has written protest songs about Bush and the US. Haha, I get a bit fired up about politics sometimes, maybe that affects the way I see this song and look at it so critically

Me too. I think it's clever. I think it's heavy, in a lighter way of saying it in some ways. I like the melody too.
