new Ani DiFranco album!

I've known about this for about a week, but I haven't seen anyone post anything about it, so I guess I'll go ahead.

Her website has some info about it. But here's a brief overview:

It is titled 'Evolve' and will be released March 11, 2003.

They have 5 of the songs available to play at www.righteousbabe.com/ani/evolve/index.asp. I don't know if it's my computer, or what, but I haven't been able to get them to play. I'm ok with that though, because I would rather just hear all the songs when I buy the CD.

I never listened to Ani, I asked people about her, some say they love her and others say she sucks..I don't know, I guess I will have to see for myself.

She definitely isn't for everyone. The first time I listened to her, I honestly did not care for her. Then a few years later, I tried again...and it was completely different for me.

I am excited for the new album.

Hey, girls, i do love Ani, but don't have any of her albums yet....

honeybee, I recommend getting Revelling/Reckoning. It's a 2CD set...it was the first Ani I bought and it's my favourite of hers still.

Well, I must say that I'm excited for all of the Ani fans in here because her CD will be coming out soon. I, however, have given up trying to acquire a taste for her - it's just not taking. The only song I really like is "Both Hands."

Woooo! I have 'evolve'd!!!

I got her new cd last weekend & have been listening to it for the past few days. I really love the song "In the Way" & so far I also like Icarus and Shrug a lot, too. Some of them I've only heard once, so the album is still growing on me.
I'm going to d/l some tunes from the cd that Mandy mentioned, too......I'm becoming an Ani fan, woo!
What beautiful artwork on the cd, too.

Only listened to the double live CD, but many times over. She is pretty weird, not "tori-like" at all like someone else told me. (Three people on the Pitt weekend told me I needed to hear her music.) Some of it is pretty catchy like "f***ing Napoleon" and "I am not a pretty girl" Then there are the political commentary like "Self Evident"

This is all in prep for I will see her in a few weeks. And who says Tori is the only act in town??

Honeybee, yes...I bought Evolve the day it came out. I honestly have not given it much attention however. I listened to it a couple of times the first week I had it, but since then have just not had the time. So I'm ashamed to say...I don't know how I feel about it yet. Which isn't to stay I don't like it...but after 2 listens it didn't grab me the way Revelling/Reckoning did. So...I need some more time before I can honestly say what I think about it. I'm glad you are enjoying it though. You should definitely get R/R now!!

I think I will eventually get R & R as well. I've been d/ling songs & many of the ones I like seem to be from that double cd. (Marrow, Rock Paper Scissors, So What and many others...)

The woman has such a huge body of work!

i saw ani live on tv once--and i can't even remember where or when. but i liked her then and thought i should get an album of hers, but have never gotten one.

well, i was in target the other day with my mom, and she offered to buy me a cd (a rare treat), so i thought i'd get something i wouldn't normally spend my money on--since she offered! i got ani's "evolve" cd.

and i listened to it while i was cleaning my apartment. and i really like it. some of the songs sound very similar and kind of run together. but for the most part, i really like it.
