I was downloading good stuff over at Turbid Blue and I downloaded Tori's top 10 favorite music videos countdown on The Rage in Austrailia, and I thought in honor of that, we should do our own.
Here's mine:
10. All Nite (Don't Stop) - Janet Jackson.
This video is absolutely non-stop. Every beat has a new frame and it's just a perfect dance video - so sexy!
9. Somebody - Bonnie McKee
It has such a realness to it. I think it's beautiful how she is watching home videos from her pool and gazing in sadness at what she never had.
8. Precious Illusions - Alanis Morissette.
I love the creativity of the fantasy vs. reality and the fact that Alanis in the end, likes reality better.
7. Across The Universe - Fiona Apple.
I love how Fiona is sitting in the corner or standing on the sides or sitting comfortably during the entire video singing, "Nothin's gonna change my world." in a calm, almost sad voice while the men tear up the place out of ignorance.
6. Just Like A Pill - P!nk.
The darkness of this video is so beautiful. I love the contrast that happens randomly when you see her in white in some kind of daze. The fighting turning into making out was a really cool way to look at the emotions in the song being played out infront of her.
5. Everytime - Janet Jackson.
This is one of the most beautiful music videos I've ever seen. It's basically an aqua water mansion sanctuary but she is very sad because she's dwelling on the fact that none of her relationships ever last so even though she is surrounded by beauty, she is by herself.
4. Fighter - Christina Aguilera.
This video's symbolism and dark beauty is awesome. From her being trapped in a glass box and then breaking free from it, turning from a moth-like weak being into a strong, full of power sorceress or something of that sort. The imagery is phenomenal. The close ups of the eyes batting like the moths and the metaphors of the betrayals as she pulls pins out of her back. This video is genius.
3. Jackie's Strength - Tori Amos.
I love the whole runaway bride deal of it. The bride in a taxi just lying back but the part that really tugs my heart strings is when the other Tori is running behind the cab and the bride Tori tells the driver to stop and the running Tori takes off the bride Tori's vail and floats away...so beautiful.
2. 1000 oceans - Tori Amos.
The sadness in the video truly brings me to tears. I love how it's like she's a piece of sorrowful art that everyone is looking at and trying to analyze.
1. a sorta fairytale - Tori Amos.
Truly the best video I've ever seen. The whole symbolism of the couple being just pieces of themselves and not truly being complete until they had each other. I love the fairytale aspect of it, with the kiss and then bringing themselves back to their full bodies because of their love.
