"Do you like American music? I like American music! Do you like American music babeeeeeeeeeee......"*drums* "Do ya do too many druuugs, I do too many druugs...do ya do too many drugs too, babeee..."Uhmm, yeah I love the Femmes! Saw them once in a tiny little venue and it was FABulous! Anyone else? C'mon! Sing with me... "When I'm out walkin' I strut my stuff and I'm so strung out...I'm high as a kite I just might stop to check you out let me go oooon like a blister in the sun..."I know, I'm a dork!

Yay they're great! I have Why Do Birds Sing (but my friend has been borrowing it for 2 years now...) and I'll be getting their first from Aims soon! I have it only on tape!
I love their version of "Do you really want to hurt me" too, what an excellent band. Let me go oooon, like a blister in the sun...
I read some reviews of VF performances and the guys themselves had looked for them I think. One said that the effect of the singer's voice is the same as releasing a lot of methane gas in a crowded room, hehehe. But I love the voice!

I love their "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me"! It's great. Also love "Gone Daddy Gone"! It's so catchy and about losing your virginity! heh! I love Gordon's voice! I remember when I first heard them I thought it was some kind of comedic band because of the way he sings! But he grows on ya! So many great songs: Please Don't Go Kiss Off Add It Up Out the Window He Likes Me

Add It Up He Likes Me Oh man, I love those two too! 'He likes me' is so much fun ahahaha. "Isn't that SWELL??" hahaha. And Add it Up... I listened to it and was like, wait - this sounds familiar... It's the song Ethan Hawke does in Reality Bites but isn't in the soundtrack and then I found out that his "band" in the movie was Violent Femmes! I'm sure you fans already knew but... I'm still thinking that's ultra-cool.

My very closest boy-friend (not THE boy friend, just a friend who was a boy) and I used to go in his room and blast that whole VF album and lay on the floor and listen to it, kinda dancing while we lay there....it was so fun! On a trip back from the beach, one of my girlfriends was getting out my VF cassette tape to pop in the player and we had the windows down and somehow the tape flew out the window at about 70 miles per hour on the 55 Freeway....LMAO! We've never forgotten that... Now, 17 years later, I'm FINALLY getting a replacement for it.....Thanks to Aims! I do love American Music and much of their more recent work. I'm so tempted to get that Best Of album.

Ooooooh! Hehe.. shit man... Perhaps my angriest moment ALL year was when I was supposed to go see the Femmes in concert back in April, and my stupid idiot sister decided at the LAST MINUTE that she didn't wanna go!! SO I HAD NOBODY TO GO WITH!! SO I DIDN'T GO!! AARRGGGHHH!!! If only she'd told me a few hours earlier.. I could've gone with someone else... but NO. Oh well..

That totally sucks! My sister is the one that took me to see them. Makes me think of that Juliana Hatfield song... "I miss my sister, why'd she go ? She's the one who took me To my first all-ages show. It was the Violent Femmes and the Del Fuegos, Before they had a record out. Before they went gold, And started to grow." Of course this part could be for your sister... " I hate my sister, she's such a bitch. She acts as if she doesn't even know that I exist." teehee

ROFL!!! Omg, I actually DID used to think of my sister when I heard that song! She used to be such a horrible abusive bitch to me when we were younger... just like, extreme verbal abuse all the freaking time. So I always used to think of her when I heard the lyrics " I hate my sister, she's such a bitch. She acts as if she doesn't even know that I exist." I'm amazed we are actually so close after all those years like that! It was only coz she grew up (and she's the older one, go figure) and stopped acting like a stupid slag all the time. So yes, good choice

LOL! My sister and I didn't get along until I reached 13 or 14 (she is 3 years older). We fought ALL the time. Now we are close as can be, and I am the motherly one that tells her what she should do all the time...funny how the 'lil sister acts older sometimes isn't it?! But, yeah, I used to sing that song to her! Of course I can be very childish when I want to be...Ahem!

I am the motherly one that tells her what she should do all the time...funny how the 'lil sister acts older sometimes isn't it?! Yeah, exactly... I can relate to that really well. Megan and I have a 4 year age difference.. and sometimes I feel like I should be the older one. Maybe it's coz little sisters have to put up with so much shit from the older one, it makes us more mature? I dunno, maybe not (I'm still extremely immature when I want to be too!). Just feels like I'm her "voice of reason" a lot of the time.
