Tori was inspired by this composer when she wrote the intro of Yes Anastasia

Interesting, micel. Where did you learn this? Is it a Tori-quote from somewhere....in one of her songbooks or something?
I remember from a very brief study of Debussy that he was often referred to as an Impressionist composer....his work was compared musically to that of the various french artists from the Impressionist era.....where there is an obvious 'blurring' of sound in his work in the same way that the artwork had its unique 'blurring' (I'm just using that term loosely b/c it's the first description that came to mind). I can hear/sense this in his piano music, even though my ear is very UNtrained in that sort of thing. It's almost impossible not to notice it. So I'm interested to know if Tori mentions any particular works of his, or just his name in general?
I listen to Debussy's very popular Claire de Lune, which is lovely, I think, and I can hear little tori-esque sounding things, but I have NO idea how to describe them. LOL And perhaps my most favorite things (piano-wise) of his are some of the Preludes from his Book 1, and his 'Pour Le Piano' Sarabande. Oh my, I love that!
But anyway...I'd love more info on this if you have it.

I was force-educated with Debussy this summer, hehehe. I had never played it and my boyfriend insisted that I learn to play Clair de Lune. I guess I kinda did. But need more practice.
Interesting music.

Yeah, when you play his music, it sounds like the title... like "Jardins sous la pluie" sounds like you're listening to gardens in the rain, or "Clair de Lune" sounds like moonlight falling softly...
I guess that is why he's an impressionist lol, but yeah, he's my second favorite behind Chopin.
