Just for 'laughs', changed channels to have a look at a promotional show for Britney Spears' new album.
Basically the show is soft porn set to music. My God, how embarrassing for musicians everywhere.
At least when Madonna was doing this kind of thing 10 to 15 years ago, the music was moderately catchy and she didn't have to mime everything for a "live" performance. I haven't seen a lip-synch as bad as Britney's for years.
If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go and ritually cleanse myself or something.

(I shouldn't be so surprised cos I'd be the only other person on the forum to have 'just' seen it, but anyway!) Yeah, it was just awful! As soon as I saw the lip-synching I just thought 'tacky!' and turned the telly off. It's either that or Funny Farm on Channel 9. I'm getting more and more impatient with TV these days... And LOL at BS!!!!

LOL at the ritual cleansing.
Trevor, dear, you guys have it easy over there. Here there is SO much BS, it's unbelievable. Truly. Ick.
Funny that you compared BS to Madonna.... there was a spot on the news here not too long ago on Miss Britney-soft-porn-fake-singer-Spears, and they were interviewing Moms who were 'against' their young impressionable daughters listening to the BS 'music' or watching her vids b/c they didn't want their daughters to be seeing that kind of bump-and-grind action, set to music or otherwise. They made mention how a generation ago (hello, that would be MY generation) these Moms' parents were thinking the same thing about Madonna.... that they were worried about their daughters idolizing a boy-toy Material Girl. I LAUGHED MY A*S OFF!.... I mean, there is NO comparison to Madonna then and Britney now.
None. Zero. Madonna really sang, for one. And if you listened closely to her lyrics they actually made some kind of sense or were worth listening to. And she showed off her belly, yes, but at least the back end of her britches stayed where it was supposed to!
I hope someday Britney really cashes in and just makes the full leap to becoming a porn star so she can stop pretending she sings, and stop embarassing what's left of the REPUTABLE music industry.
*steps off the soap box and thinks about taking off her 6A t-shirt and donning her 'Spear Britney' t-shirt instead*
(Gosh, I'm in a witchy mood, I guess!)

Well that's kinda nice to hear that there were a group of mothers bitching about Britney and all her soft-porn sluttiness... Coz I'm kinda sick of all these overly-conservative sorts focusing on slagging off rock and metal. I say all the slutty music is much much worse! And there is so much of it around... ack.
And yeah, I think the comparison to Madonna is pretty stupid too. She may suck now (well, I think so at least) but it doesn't change the fact that she totally rocked, and is a very talented lady who deserves all the sucess she's gained.. And yeah, at least she knew how to put on a real show.

I saw a bit of an interview with Brit... man, she's such a tool. I mean, Madonna would sing about what she actually thought of the world or what her opinions were. Britney was asked if her new single's hints towards lesbian stuff (I guess there's something like that in the video as well as in the lyrics, though she herself claims to be hetero) were an idea to get more attention and sell more by being provocative, ie was a calculative move, and she just smiled a little and looked really confused, as if she had never really listened to the song herself. "I don't know... huh? ...". She didn't say anything to that comment! They should hire a robot to do her interviews.

I mean, Madonna would sing about what she actually thought of the world or what her opinions were. Exactly. That's what makes her cool. When she does "shocking" stuff, she at least has the intellect to back it up.
