does anyone like them? i think that, along Duran Duran, they're the best band of the 80s. DD was more of a pop-oriented group, The Smiths is the definitive rock band when it comes to sad, depressing and sorrowful tunes. I consider these things instrinsically connected to my youth, so they're my favorite band. My favorite songs are 'That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore', 'The Boy With The Thorn In His Side' and 'Panic'.  |

Yay Smiths! Although Morissey's voice is somewhat monotonic, I still love it! My favorite songs are probably

I loved the Smiths! "How Soon is Now" is, in my opinion, one of the BEST, if not THE BEST guitar songs of the 80's...or ever! lol And if I had a nickel for everytime I listened to Louder Than Bombs or their first LP..... plus they always had some of the most interesting song titles. ~Mary, a sweet and tender hooligan  |

If you like the smiths you may also like the cure, they also have that british, melancholic, despairing sound.
try these cure albums- 'disintegration' (also one of tori's faves apparently!!) and 'the head on the door.'
