Hey! I am studying Spanish for my IR major, and though I am not even close to being fluent yet, I have been trying to expose myself to more Spanish entertainment. Besides the more mainstream choices (Shakira and J Lo), who are some good Latino/ Spanish singers? I love alternative music, and am not a big pop fan, so someone along those lines would be good. I remember awhile a go there were a few billingual Tori fans, and I do not know if they are still here. I also would be interested in chatting and movie recommendations. Muchas gracias!

I personally dont really listen to too much spanish. Occasioally Ill listen to adventura (bachata), I personally like Si~Se, its an urban style rock mixed with spanish. Shakira is good...but her old stuff. Her mtv unplugged in spanish is nice. I know carly listens to her. Maybe she has some suggestions. *movies I recommend~y tu mama tambien I have a couple of others but my brain is fried. *Congrads to you for expanding your horizons. I'm not fluent in spanish. But I can understand if you are talking to me. Ill most likely answer you in english. Well thats what I do with my family. Good luck on finding stuff.

I know I'm posting kind of late but my fave. latin band is Aterciopelados, they mix many different styles and the result is more than interesting, they have more of a punk rock influence in their early material, but now they mix colombian folklore, with ska, rock, you name it they have it, I love that group, definitly the best latin group. Café Tacuba is a good band too, as well as Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, of course my music taste varies a lot, can't really stick to one musical gender. And sure I am chilean, bilingual because I grew up in Canada so whenever you want to practice your spanish let me know.
