i have to say i was a very big fan of hers till 1999 when she lost her mind and went fucking demented. first there was the 'American Pie' crap, she destroyed one of the best songs ever and turned it into shit. Her 'Music' album was a major disappointment except for 2 songs. 'American Life' is one of the worst albums I ever heard in my life... Unfortunately it seems like Madonna as I knew her is gone for good.

I was never a Madonna fan, so I still think the same.

Yeah I have to say I feel a bit the same. Love her older stuff but she's too blah these days for me. Too "cool" for me or some shit.. hehehe.
I admire her for her staying power and sucess though, she's a pretty smart woman. Just as long as I don't have to hear her sing or see her act (ok that's the worst part of her these days! eek) I'm quite happy. (although I'll be curious to "see" her in that cartoon/musical movie version of the kids book she wrote..)

No shit, is that really gonna happen??? Man, the things a person will do to remain under the spotlight... It's sad, really.

I just recently got into Madonna and now I LOVE her. I don't like her earlier stuff. I love stuff from Ray of Light 'til now including her last album.

You know I had the weirdest 'Madonna monent' this morning while I was watching Rage (Aussie music video program). The video for 'Love Profusion' was playing and I was thinking, 'Woah, that's the Scarlet's Walk dress...and she's walking!!!' Oh dear. That wasn't much was it?! I love Ray Of Light and Like A Prayer And yeah, ditto what Hellfire said at the beginning. It's disappointing, but inevitable I guess.

Oh yea, list me as a ROL/LAP lover as well. Although I think 'Erotica' is the best.

I was in to Madonna's music right up until Ray of Light; I eventually gave the cd to my sister sylvia because she's a bigger fan than I am and I didn't want to throw it away. I can handle musicians and artists changing/evolving over time, it'd be a bigger shame if they NEVER changed, but I just lost interest in Madonna over the years. the height of my fandom was the Truth or Dare documentary film back in the 90s, after that her appeal started slipping for me. *shrugs* after a while all of the taboo-pseudo-provocative stuff gets old or the audience becomes jaded to the whole sex act theme. although the transition from her early years to the present (being a parent, an author, and still a performer) hasn't been a very good one (or even successful) for Madonna, I'm sure she'll find her niche sooner or later.

I LOVE Madonna. I will admit, at times I do miss the days of yore when she was provocative and controversial. The whole way she handled the American Life video was kind of disappointing as well, but honestly, she is a mother now, a wife and in her 40's. Is it so unrealistic to believe that celebrities can mellow out and calm down just like the people we've known throughout our everyday lives? While American Life is not her most upbeat album, it is so full of wisdom and enlightenment and I love her new music and videos more than anything she's ever done. I think it's hard for people to just listen to the music now because she is Madonna, but I wish more people would give her a chance because she truly has some awesome things to say!
