I read that only 2000 copies of it were made. What was she thinking?! You probably could google it and find various sites selling it. I saw it listed on a UK site before. Because it's rare, it's a pretty penny, though. Hahahaha.. the rareness makes it even more irresistable to me! Oh man.. why couldn't I have become addicted to something cheap like cigarettes? (hehe.. I'm glad I didn't though!!) You are such a lil fountain of knowledge aren't ya? So glad you joined us on this thread (especially to clear up a few of my errors on Paulo's questions etc! I have to admit, I said "bside" to a couple of them coz I had no idea and was too lazy to look.. lol)

Ahhh, thanks. No problem about the 'clear-ups'. The info was all at her site which I've been browsing lately anyway. And I'm a pretty decent Nick Cave fan, so I knew that one right off...

Hey, you wanna do me a favour then and suggest a couple of Nick Cave albums for me to check out? I have Murder Ballads, and am loving it... but not sure where to go from here. (I hear their earlier stuff is "gloomier" and I love that lol)

Hey, you wanna do me a favour then and suggest a couple of Nick Cave albums for me to check out? I have Murder Ballads, and am loving it... but not sure where to go from here. (I hear their earlier stuff is "gloomier" and I love that lol) Yeah, maybe not so much 'gloomier' but definitely darker/different more consistently on each of the earlier albums. I personally love the "No More Shall We Part" album the most. And I'd also recommend "The Good Son". The albums before TGS are pretty good, but I think the more recent ones are better. You might really like "Tender Prey", though. You really gotta sample them b/c the albums are all different. Their latest, "Nocturama", is finally growing on me more.... but I still don't rate it as highly as NMSWP. I also rather like the album "The Boatman's Call", ... it's an album of 'love songs' that are like tragic and gloomy and have no happy endings, lol..... so you might like it, too. (But don't ask Trevor or Carly to recommend anything from it ) Mallory is another Nick fan. Aims, you can go read summaries of each of their albums at: www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&uid=UIDMISS70401151627591186&sql=Bkxkbikx6bb39Scroll down to the discography and click on each album to read about it. There aren't sound-samples there, but I think there are still some samples at their site: www.nickcaveandthebadseeds.com/

Hey, Paulo, I know that song from the Batman Forever soundtrack... it's called One Time Too Many. The song does NOT appear in the movie itself. That same song is also featured on the "6 Feet Under" HBO series cd. Thanks, renamed the file already. And I'm betting the reason "Knoxville Girl" was listed as PJ Harvey is because it's a b-side song from the Nick Cave single Henry Lee... Henry Lee (the song, from the Nick Cave album, Murder Ballads) actually DOES include PJ's vocals. I also downloaded Henry Lee. i'm keeping Knoxville Girl cuz it's pretty good, but of course, 'Henry Lee' is a lot better. ....and Shame is one of her new songs on the yet-to-be released album. Also on the new album ("Uh Huh Her"), the track 13 is supposed to be called "The Darker Days of Me & Him"... does that sound like what the song is called (I haven't heard it myself... just looked at the PJHnet site.) that file was a hoax, apparently. i couldn't even finished downloading, and from what i heard on previews, it was just a loop of the first 10 or 20 seconds of the song. it sounded alright, though. full tracklisting of the new album is set to be: 1.The Life and Death of Mr Badmouth 2.Shame 3.Who The Fuck? 4.The Pocket Knife 5.The Letter 6.The Slow Drug 7.No Child of Mine 8.Cat on the Wall 9.You Come Through 10.It's You 11.The End 12.The Desperate Kingdom of Love 13.The Darker Days of Me & Himthanks, i'll keep them in mind and then when the record comes out i'll try downloading them, cuz doing it now would be useless, they'd all be hoaxes anyway. And I just looked up "Who Will Love Me Now?"... I didn't see it on PJ's b-sides album. (Aimee had it labelled as a b-side, so I thought that's what she meant) Since you like it so much you might like to know that it's another soundtrack song. It's from the movie "Passion of Darkly Noon". (Brenden Fraser, Ashley Judd and Viggo Mortensen,.... lol your favorite) god, i HATE viggo with passion... why on earth would Ashley Judd be in a film with him. yerch. i do think Brendan is quite a babe, though.

My copy of "Who The Fuck" is a bit like that - I can tell it's an incomplete file at least, anyway. But I don't mind that because I only wanted some lil snippets to keep me from going insane with impatience waiting for the album to come out. I don't know if I'd go as far as calling any of what I've heard so far a hoax, because it's definately PJ's voice... but just really crappy, incomplete, loopy files of them anyway.

i mostly hate loop files, but there are some that can come out pretty good. the one i had wasn't one of them. the beginning of the song is just the sound of a bunch of seagulls flying around, and that's the only part you get to hear, so. for all i know, it might not even be her.
question: what PJ album should i get first? my favorite song is 'A Place Called Home'. does all of 'Stories...' sound like that?

Stories is a GREAT album. Of course the whole album doesn't sound exactly like that song (lol, what fun would that be?!), but yes, I think the whole thing is good. Personally, I'm going backward (chronologically) in my PJ purchasing.

that's usually what i do in happier times, but money's been kind of evading me lately. i'm still paying off my computer and the DSL connection, so it won't be till my birthday before i can buy someone's entire discography again. thank god for mp3s. but yea, you just confirmed my suspicions, i was gonna get 'stories' first anyway. thanks.

Personally, I'm going backward (chronologically) in my PJ purchasing. Hey, me too! I started with Stories, then purchased Is This Desire? I don't know which I'm purchasing next, though, my finances are starting to growl at me. So it might be a while.

Another Stories person here. I got that one first just because it was the first one I found (and still remains the easiest one to find in this bloody country). Had only heard Good Fortune and This Mess We're In so was kinda one of those "I don't know anything about this woman, but what the hell?" moments. And then I got Is This Desire, because I was gonna be seeing her at a festival and wanted to know more of her music. Turns out she didn't bloody play ANYTHING from ITD but oh well... lol. After that: Rid Of Me (which made me click onto the "lick my legs" thing on the PJ Harvey shirt I'd bought at that festival lol), To Bring You My Love, 4-Track Demos, Dry, Dance Hall At Louse Point.. Blahblahblabh.. blah.

funny that, even though she's completely unknown, her albums are rather easy to find. i've seen at least 3. 'stories', one in which she's throwing her wet hair around (don't know the name) and one with a blue-ish kind of cover.

Oh yeah, I've found half her albums locally, but it just seems Stories is the most common. Rid Of Me is the one with her flinging her wet hair around on the cover.. and blue-ish cover? Might be To Bring You My Love. That has a sorta green vibe about it... She's got a red dress on? If so, thats the one.
