Holy shit, Radioheadfest!!!! hahhahahahahaha.... I love that Iron Lung EP I can't remember how long ago I got it, but it's been a while. What is this Modest Mouse thing? I was just about to go get ready for bed the other night, and had it on the music channel as usual... and one of their videos started and I was like "ooh I must watch this to hear this song - see what it's all about". Recognised them from your sig + ramblings (I'm a lot more observant than people would think..) Anyway, don't know what song it was... they were arseing around on some farm though, if that helps. They reminded me of someone else but I can't think of who. Aiiiiimmmmmssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm SO excited that you asked about Modest Mouse! When you get the package I just finally mailed off to you (this last Saturday), you'll see why!!!!!!! I'm sure that video you saw was for Float On. It's the first single off their new album Good News For People Who Love Bad News. This album IS AWESOME!!! It's the most slick, mainstream production they've done yet so it's getting noticed. Lots of great reviews. Sean and I absofreakinglutely LOVE it. We think you'll like it, too. 'Cause you're "a girl who likes her rock with a gritty, quirky edge", like me. (That's what the guy at the record store told me! lol) Anyway, YES, they do sound like someone... the question is not who, but who else! They've got little echoes of The Cure, David Bowie, Cake, Jane's Addiction and Red Hot Chili Peppers goin' on in this album. Their music is totally fun at times, totally rockin' out and totally making you think with the lyrics. Isaac Brock, the lead, can do some trippy-weird shite with his voice... and it's, in some strange way, his charming trademark. I'm going to try to remember to start a proper MM thread here in OA forum later... I keep forgetting. Right now I've got their latest cd in my cd player in my car and their previous cd The Moon and Antarctica is rotating in my cd changer here in the house. I think THAT album is awesome, too, btw. Their last 2 albums were released on epic and they are a bit more mainstream but they still keep their quirky edge that they had on their Indie labels. It's just better produced and smoother, cleaner to me. If you like more indie punk/rock/good-weirdness then their earlier stuff is definitely worth a listen, too. I like it ALL! I LOVE MODEST MOUSE!! Even my son walks around singing "Alright already we'll all float on... "

Oooh Mary, I'm intrigued!! I hadn't actually heard of them at all till recently... how many albums do they have? And I wonder how many pissed off "hardcore" fans there are that don't like them now that more people are finding out about them..? Heehehe those fans crack me up. Oh man, my Dad just bought this massive-arsed door for our letterbox, so hopefully this time your package will be able to hide in there nicely, and won't get sent back to the stupid Pakuranga post office for me to go pick up

*squeals* Yay I love my Sundays, especially BlindOoh, I feel all 'calmed' now after a night of being driven crazy by sis. LOL.... Yeah, I've already had 'Blind' for some time now and really like it. My best friend LOVES the Sundays. I gave her the new Sarah Harmer album for her b-day last month and she was telling me how much she thought Sarah's voice sounds like Harriet Wheeler's on this album... she really liked it. She said she'd check out Sarah's other album if I finally checked out the other Sundays albums (I already a knew songs like Summertime and Here's Where the Story Ends, etc). I told her that I'm on a Tori-searching-streak at the moment, but one of these days I'd check for Sundays albums used/cheap and let her know if I got them.... Strange thing happened: an ebay seller had an auction labeled as 'Sundays reading writing arithmetic tori amos'. I clicked on it because at first I thought he was selling 2 things, a Sundays cd and a Tori cd. Wrong. He was putting tori's name after it so people like me who love Tori might also be interested in the Sundays and find his auction by searching Tori's name as I did. And I did. Found BOTH auctions for both albums, both with Tori's name tacked on the end. They happened to be the 2 albums I was interested in getting that I didn't already have, so I took it as a sign that I was meant to have them. Another weirdness thing: the seller was a California seller and recognized the town I live in because he has a good friend who lives here. LOL, I could tell what city he was in from the auction and I told him HE lives where both my husband and son were born! I knew exactly the street he lived on and what view he had out his window. LOL It was like a small world fated experience. Really fun. Amy (best friend) still needs to get Sarah's first album. I told her it's a sign she should have it because Sarah's record label is "Zoe records". Amy's daughter's name is Zoe. See, everything's connected (and rambly).
