Ok, I don't know if anyone ever saw the show, but VH1's "The List" was a show where a bunch of celebrities were given a topic, like "Best Desert Island Album" or "Best Tearjerker Song," and they had to make a top 5 list. Then, each one would kick off one of the other people's songs, and the audience would vote on the rest to create an official top 5.
I know that many of us here love making lists And I always thought how awesome it would be to be on that show, debating other people's choices and defending your own. And ok, we can't do the last step because we don't have an audience to vote on the choices, but I thought it would be fun to start a List game on here ;D
So on here, I think the way it would work is: I'll post a topic, then anyone who wants to can post their five choices, in numerical order, with a blurb explaning each choice. And we each get one post where we can kick someone else's choice off of their list, because I know how much we love to disagree when it comes to music
So, ok, if anyone wants to play... go ahead! The first topic is: Top 5 Angriest Songs.
My list is:
1) Tori Amos - Precious Things[/b]
Well, duh. This song has some of the most vicious lyrics I've ever heard, made even more vicious by Tori's pounding delivery. On top of that, I think any girl (or gay boy) here has wanted a "precious thing" to bleed at one point or another in their life. Or many points.
2) Tool - Ticks And Leeches[/b]
All the explanation I think I need is Hope this is what you wanted, hope this is what you had in mind, cause this is what you're getting. I hope you're choking, I hope you choke on this I HOPE YOU'RE CHOKING, I HOPE YOU CHOKE ON THIS![/b]
Yeah.
3) Smashing Pumpkins - Bullet With Butterfly Wings[/b]
My reasoning is, any song with the line Despite all my rage, I'm still just a rat in a cage needs to be on this list.
4) PJ Harvey - Rid Of Me[/b]
This is the creepy kind of angry. The seething nasty quietly vengeful that ends up exploding in your face. And besides, PJ Harvey does psychotically angry so well
5) Alanis Morissette - You Oughta Know[/b]
This list wouldn't be complete without an entry from pop/rock's reigning queen of angst (well, at least, she used to be...). And everytime I scratch my nails down someone else's back I hope you feel it is one of my all-time favorite lyrics, but the whole song bites hard and nasty. Don't fuck with Alanis, apparently.
(Honest mention to Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit[/b] )
